I am going to get a remote start kit for my car. I've been told that no shop will install it on my car b/c its a stick. If that is truly the case, has anyone ever installed it on their car, and if you did, can you give me a how to on installing it?

Thanks alot,
Jeremy

Oh yeah, whats a good brand to get. I don't need an alarm really, just the remote starter.

the car will not start.. but roll into a wall or another car.. ( alot of damage)

there are alot of people including myself that have install a remote start alarm in the celica.

the basic wire diagram is located on the sticky at the top of the page.

You will need a way to defeat the saftey clutch switch.

since i own an automatic. I will leave this step to the other people on the forum to answer your question.

the install is relatively simple. hook up the alarm (or remote start) wire to the coresponding wire in the celica wire harness.

I installed a remote starter on my manual transmission celica a couple of years ago. You do have ot be careful when you start it. I left mine in gear once and drove through my wife's garage door while we were dating. Her dad wasn't too happy, but what was worse was I had to help him paint the garage door again. My point is be careful or you'll mess up and have to paint garage door with your in-laws.

the best solution is the get an alarm with a turbo timer

so the car will run for like X amount of time after you arm it.. so when you start it, it will never be in gear.

if you do this you will need to disable the safely clutch switch.

and that member is the owner - Coomer

back on topic:
you just need a clutch bypass sensor. Theres a sensor that is activated when the clutch is depressed, this is why the car wont start unless the clutch is in, or how cruise control turns off if you press the clutch. You need to bypass this. Then, its basically just an automatic. HOWEVER!!!!! You need to leave the car in neutral, I dont think this of a problem figuring I just set my ebrake and go.... but alot of people leave it in neutral. I think Chris (Coomer) created a relay that would only let him start it if it was in Neutral. Its probably more explained in the two topics that Batman posted.

bypass modules is used for people who upgrade there factory car alarms to an aftermarket one.

This module will "bypass" the factory one and let the aftermarket one work without setting off the factory alarm.

what the heck are you smoking^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

think about that for a second.....with out the clutch being PHYSICALLY pushed in you CANNOT remote start your car in gear WIHTOUT rolling into sumthing/someone

an manual car with remote start MUST BE LEFT IN NEUTRAL

both of those are some b/s IMO. Any remote starter can be used on a manual. You still have to bypass the clutch sensor and neither comes with any thing to do it with.

I installed mine on sunday and it took like 1 hour to do. Very easy. I had to bypass the clutch system. My cruise control doesn't work b/c the clutch wires are touching, but I am going to buy an on/off switch that makes it work. When the wires touch, and you are in first gear, its like an automatic...Pretty cool

Bottom line: Need to bypass the clutch to have a remote start in manual and leave it in neutral

what are you talking about?

clifford developed a system for manual transmissions. you CAN START YOU CAR with the caR in gear.

for those who know clifford alarms they make the top of the line alarm system for cars. the local clifford dealer wil have a promotion contest every year or so.

the contest, anyone who can break into the car, start it, and drive it around the block (system will stall out the car)will win whatever car they are giving out.

time frame they give you 1hour

well back to the subject, my girl has the system in her car (manual) and it starts it up perfectly, doesnt have to be in gear.
