I need a new hood, but some stores advised me not to buy an imitation hood instead of an original toyota hood. How do you guys think about that? Does anyone have experiences with imitation hoods?

what do you mean by imitation? aftermarket, carbon fiber etc?

also I don't think an aftermarket hood is going to fit perfectly, but it shouldn't be all that noticable.

well as I see it you have a couple options. assuming you need a new hood you could

a) find a celica in a junk/scrap-yard and buy the hood
b) use the hood you bought and add a universal scoop on it
c) buy a carbon fiber hood (such as made by ViS racing)

a used hood would probably fit the best and be the cheapest solution. otherwise there are plenty of members on this site who have modified their stock hoods or bought carbon fiber and been happy with the results

I hope that helps.

I need a new one because I had an accident and mines is to broke

a) In holland I haven't found a hood on the junk-yard, I have contacted more than a 150. :S
b) Hmm i have a plan on how I want my celica. A custom hood doesn't fit my plans.
c) Neither a carbon fiber hood.

Thanx for your info Ghost Dog, I think ill just get an new original one.

haah ya u go to toyota and try to get a hood, they are going to want a ton of money! Much better off getting an orginal style aftermarket. Just go ahead and get cf one, and paint it if u want, your going to have to paint any new hood you get. and with cf u will save a lil weight smile.gif.
