going to Mexico they wont check if they do theyll just lookinside the car.
coming back if you look wrong theyll search the whole car.

youll be fine as long as you dont do any of the following
1> dont act suspiciouse
2> if your white or black your ****ed cops are crocked.
3> if your car looks to fancy your ****ed cops are crocked.
4> its another country so dont act a fool its a crocked place.
5> dont bring back firearms
6> dont buy narcotics
7> dont drive narcotics over the border
8> when coming back to the us side make sure to either have a passport if you are not a us citizen. if you are a us citizen present california or any united states id and tellthem your a us citizen. they will ask ayou a few questions and anserwer them truthfully youll be fine.
9> (if your a chick) dont drink any alchol a stranger gives you.
10>if your a guy dont **** the chicks unless you have a jimmy hat.

listen to those rules and youll have fun.

If your just going for a few nights its cool, no beef there. But if your vacationing for a month or so, and plan to go beyond the territories bordering the US, you might have to get a special permit. Call your local District of Motor Vehicles. They will have info on what you would need.

What ever you do, dont fool around and get arrested. The cops out there take bribes (be it if you give them a bribe or they take it from you) and mess with your ride, ID, Passport, Belongings, etc.

I was wondering more on the US customs side coming back in. Because I'm thinking of importing a GT4 to Mexico and getting a temporary permit in mexico and driving it across the border to the US. suposedly theres a agreement in the US that you can drive a mexican registered car into the US with no hassles.

The permit might only for a certain period of time. If you dont get ur arse back across the border within the alotted time then, your vehicle can get reported to the authorities. I'm guessing you would also have to be a resident of mexico to get that type of permit.

hey,
Coustoe i hope you get a nice GT4 since you are importing the hard way ..

l towed my GT4 across canadian border and i was amazed at how easy it was to cross considering going to canada i was stuck at crossing for 6 hours with paperwork issues for a legal del sol i was taking to calgary and i had just drank 2 huge energy drinks and was jumpy which did not help .. US and canadian customs search my car 3 times since i looked nervous .. not fun ... now i was laughing in my head as i don't even smoke and i am a clean cut 30 yr old guy w/ no record and these clowns were just wasting their time .. there was a muslims couple sitting next to me and i felt bad as you have to have tons of paperwork to cross if you even look middle eastern ...

coming back i was calm and cool and 10 mintues later i was rolling .. i almost peeled out of customs lot i was so excited ...

think about the worst cop you have every met .. double that and that is nicest customs
clown for either country i saw first day ... i came back on a Sat and the laid back crew was working .. very diff crew.. kiss their ass a lot and you will be fine ..

make sure you have all paper work in order 100% .. anything can hold you .. the more paper work the better ..

d-

so you actually drove your gt4 across the border or you towed it?

The reason why im shipping to mexico is that they will allow japanese cars to be driven in mexico with a temp permit with no customs crap like in the US. I know Canadian laws are exactly like the US on Car import restrictions, I dont know how you imported your GT4 into Canada without customes getting all over you.

As for paper work Im sneaking GT4 into the US basically, Dont know what paperwork other then the mexican registration i'll have to present, I was thinking of taking my celica plates and title to mexico and just swapping them onto the Gt4 at the border. Shrugs....

I just thought the border patrol people might give me crap since the car is RHD.

actualy the US border patrol are pretty nice....they only problem i see would be that the car is RHD and the border partol is always on the left...

but since it could be a off road use ..i'm sure with paper work you wil be fine...i dont know where you want to import it too but there is this one crossing where we use to go to from tecate to down farther baja but its a 2 lane exit back...and its easy to pass...all the other ones i know are big..

and US customs will tear you a new one....they are sooo mean..they treat every one like if they had drugs..its there job tho...thats my future job soo i know hahah

how much is it to import a GT4...and the only way i see it can be legal to drive on the streets if you buy a gt and change vins?
