if you are going to school for it, then ask one of your teachers about how to remove and install an engine.

there is nothing thats really hard about it, its just a lot of work, and a pain in the ass. wiring is probably the hardest part, so make sure you have somone who can wire the car up for u.

I had no idea what I was doing. My friend has done lots of toyota swaps so he did It with me.Its not that hard except the wiring is a b***h!!!But the thing is I did it myself and now I know my car like the back of my hand!If you get someone else to do it you wont know anything about your car.Give your self some credit and do it on your own and you will see.You will take pride in your car twice as much. Then when its all said and done you will actually see who knows what they are talking about on this forum.

from what i have been reading..

the 3s will bolt right up on stock gt mounts. and the trany will also fall into place correctly.( correct me if i am wrong)

but the hard part is the get the hybred axles and re-wiring the wire harness to fit the gt.

anything else i am missing?

thanks for helping me with my harness DG!

the harness is tricky when you 1st try to do it. when i 1st tried doing my own harness, i knew very little about car wiring. but the more i messed around with it the more i learned. the trick is to break up the wiring into sections...everything that happens from the minute you turn your ignition key, to the time your car fires.

Hanyo,
you dont need any custom axels if you use your stock GT tranny. if you go for an mr2 tranny, then you need to modify the axels to work.

What about with an ST Car instead of a GT car, im really interested in trying to get this engine in my joint. Do i have to worry about my tran not fitting?

Thx

yeah, for us 7a's there is a lot more work to be done than just dropping the engine and wiring, because we come from different engine families. so that cancels out the option for trannies and axels, but a must, and motor mounts i hear can be hell. so there is quite a bit more money and work involved with the st's, but we can fit the 4age 20v or the 4agze in there, not as much power, but, its a sacrifice, and whats wrong with a high revving engine with 6 speed capability

ST Tranny will not bolt up to the 3sgte. You will have to get a GT tranny or a MR2 Tranny. I would probably do a MR2 Turbo tranny because they are built for the power (93+ LSD trannys are the best ones). You will also need GT motor mounts...its either 1 or 2 of them..NOt sure!?!?

Is there any other engine swap that would be good for an ST?

Or is the best way to go just upgrade the heads and put an aftermarket Turbo on it?

this had made a turn
Any A Series engine should be a good replacement for the 7A-FE

As always said, anything can be done w/ #
but where's the fun in that

I can't tell you about the 7A-FTE and most people seem to point to a corolla forum for info on that...sorry

hasn't coom did something w/ a 4a-ge, and if this is soo, what's stopping him from attempting a supercharger set-up. A 4a-gze would be nice in a st, but the best idea in my opinion is the hybrid 7a-gte. MMMMMMMMM biggrin.gif

That doesn't make it impossible. It just hasn't been done yet. mynzeyes was pretty much done except his engine was funky. I still think he had a bad motor... but yeah... he was essentially done. I'm getting to the point where swaps are becoming easier and easier... I just haven't the drive to do anything to my Celica anymore... then again I also have very huge advantages over the typical 6gc member...
