I know this has been posted before, but it's been awile and I was just wondering if there was any new news or someone that didnt' get a chance to coment last time that might have some info. I have a 94 GT with a 5s-fe and I'd like a 6 speed. Please try to keep info about ST to a min, I think every one knows the 7th gen 6 speeds bolts up to it.

The 7th gen tranny does NOT bolt up to the 7AFE... but the guts can be transplanted into a C52 box...

As for the GT... no 6 speed transaxles but there are 6 speed RWD trannies...

AE111 Levins (20V blacktop) and a few other models came with the C56 6 speed tranny which is pretty much a bolt-on. Probably other things are needed also... but he doesn't care about what ST's have remember... ;]

I thought it was called the C60 or something. Isn't the C56 just a C52 with closer gear ratios? Because I know some later model AE101 4A-GEs came with the C56.

I dunno... I thought I was the C56... actually... I'm pretty sure it's the C56. Let me think about that for a sec. I've seen a few 6 speed boxes being sold as C56... hmm... I'll get back on this one.

After some research on ToyMods, it looks like they refer to the six speed from the AE111 as the C60. And the pre-update AE101 4A-GE's were mated to the C52(which is what I have in my car I think(I have the pre-update AE101 4A-GE, but my gear ratios are different than my stock 7A-FE C52, so I'm not sure.), and the post-update AE101 4A-GE's(and AE111 5-speeds) got the C56. wink.gif

And both the C56 and C60 are available with LSD.

Hehe... Ok... some confirmation. I had to call my engine guys and check it out just to be sure.

The AE111 6 speed is the C60. Coomer is right... =D I always thought the 6 speed was the C56 because all of the AE111 blacktops I've seen had those, or so-called C56 trannies. The 6 speed was an option for the AE111 Levin... with the C56 as standard. There was also the C160 which was an LSD 6 speed which was also available as an option.

Yeah, I didn't really. There's another hole forum page on the ST trannies, but updates never hurt anyone I guess. I'm never going to a 4a-ge, and I'm diffinately not going to a 7a-fe. More than likely I'll keep the 5s-fe till I trade her on a new car, but if I don't I'm going for a 3s-gte. There's just so many other cars out there that are better sutted for me. I love my celica, but she just hasn't got a racing heart in her. Even with a 3s-gte, I'd have to go front wheel drive. And besides that, it's to heavy and there's not enough parts for them. And, it's a little to pretty for me. I like a good ugly, fast, tough car.

HKS makes a 6 speed fwd tranny for the curren (3s-ge). they are very, very expensive as it's a racing gearbox but if your interested here's the site:
i believe it's at takakaira.com which is a japanese site in english.
