Naw, ur motors dead. I could "hear" mine working too. It's gears are shot, or whatever. But you need a new motor for that side

good luck with the install! I dont recommend u doing it yourself. U have to take apart the entire back seat, side panels- just to get to the damn motor-remove window parts, etc..
I had same problem -about 3 x!! Both side motors went. I ended up buying them from the junkyard instead of paying a ripoff price off $300.. works fine..for now...the vert top is the only thing on my car that breaks--every summer-the back windows dont move up/down (replaced those stupid motors too)!... |

This is an extremely easy repair to do(motor for the top), and one that the dealer will charge you big bucks. Now the side windows on a vert are a different problem, because they are hard to get to. Your also in luck, because I have a few extra motors laying around here. Pm if you are interested. |

Do not pick up motors out of the junk yard for the 95-97 verts. ASC used a new model in 1998 because of the problems they had with the first version.

I would imagine it would fit but I do not know. If I had to guess, if you buy a new motor from Toyota, you will get the upgraded one no matter what year you specify. I bet they do not even have different part numbers.
