hey guys im i beginner to the whole celica car scene, being that i'm only 16 and just got the car not too long ago. but i have been highly interested in import cars for 3 years now.when i bought the car, the front speakers were mostly blown so im thinking of replacing them. at first, i was thinking of getting components but realized i dont have the $ right at this time. i started looking at some 6 1/2 pioneer TS-A1680R 4-ways 2-50w rms. i dont like brain busting bass, but like to hear some decent bass every once and a while. i dont realy want to take up any trunk room so im not thinking of subs right now. so i have a few questions:
1) has anyone heard anything good/bad about the pioneer tsa's above
2)should i buy 2 pairs, since they are only $70 a pair at sounddomain.com, and later buy a 4 ch. amp to get the decent bass im looking for once in a while
3)should i buy one set of the 4-ways speakers to get the highs and a pair of components to reach the mids and lows
- and if i did this could i set up an amp to power all 4 speakers if it were a 50w rms amp?

id appreciate any info possible.thanks for checkin this out and hope to hear ur replys. biggrin.gif

Hold off. Just hold off til you have the money to buy something decent. Birthday, xmas, whatever it takes. Don't waste your money only to realize you need to spend more later.

I just got 2 sets of cdt cl-61a components but they run 150 off thezeb.com can't say how good they are yet because I won't get them installed till tomorrow or friday. As for what you should do I say wait because otherwise your just going to end up buying better ones later.

id steer clear of them Pioneers'..... only thing Pioneer Really has to offer that is good is their Premier line of cd players.... buying a set of components would be your best bet.. why? they will give you the best sound and imaging. they will sound tons better than coaxials(speakers). but you will need to buy a 4 channel amp for them... two sets of the ones Sinister bought would be good. you can get them for damn cheap at www.thezeb.com and SoundDomain has good deals on 4 channel amps also.. as everyone has said, just save up a few hundred and then do it. its always better to do it right the first time... think twice buy once wink.gif

You need a new head unit (CD player) before you need a new amp. If you're running low on money, get a set of components up front, and a set up coaxials in the back; run them off your new CD player. They will sound great.

Your bass will suffer without a subwoofer- our stock speakers are awesome for bass, it seems any aftermarket is a let down unless you add a subwoofer- so don't be expecting awesome amounts of bass.

If you do want better bass without a subwoofer, than you need a 4 channel aftermarket amp.

250 for 2 sets of speakers, 200 for a HU, 200 for a 4 channel.

Rough.

i was asumming he had a new HU already... why would you power your component sets off your cd player? thats ignorant.... if he is going to go the comps up front and coaxials in the rear. then he should power his coaxials off the HU and get an amp for the component sets so they will reach full potential.... as i said... www.thezeb.com has CDT stuff on sale, id Definately hit those up, because you probably will not find a better set for that kind of $$$$.... i still suggest to sets of components and a 4 channel amp for best imaging.... and for that little extra thump buy a Resonant Engineering 8" www.reaudio.com they are $50.. they can get pretty loud for a little 8" and be mistakin for a 12" or two 10"s... that could also be powered off your 4 channel amp. and speaking of which... brands too look at:

JL
Kicker
MTX
JBL
Xtant
US Acoustics
US Amps
Zapco
Memphis
Infinity

thats just to name a few off the top of my head..

No, it's cheap. He doesn't have much money. He'll be fine powering them both off the HU as long as the HU puts out an RMS within the speakers RMS range

Components will not sound good on a HU.. i have no clue where you are getting that from, you must not know what good sound is..... just like powering speakers off of your HU, you will notice a major difference in them off of an amp... he is better saving his money and buying component sets and a 4 channel amp.... this can be done under $500 which is relatively cheap for car audio. if he needs a HU then he can look at Crutchfield... they have deals going on and warranties ofcourse.. CDT components will run you $150 at The Zeb and if you want coaxials, they have CDT's for $60.... and you can get a 4 channel amp for em for under $200....if he is just going to run stuff off of his HU then he might as well run all coaxials. that is all i have to say about this.. this is getting stupid.

Dude, he can buy a 4 channel amp LATER. He can run them off a HU FINE for the time being, they sound fine if they're powered in the middle of their range.

Components are not a "ton of bass," they're the best sound quality you could ask for.

Like Scarrell is pointing out, you should have a 4 channel amp, however due to your financial situation you can hold off purchasing that til a later date, and run components and coaxials off a HU fine for the time being.

All I have to say is that if you are going for sound and are trying to figure out if you should get components or coaxial. Components sound better because the voice coil is not being interfered with by the tweeters. Other then that for someone new to the sounds world won't really care much at first driving any speakers off the HU, but you will notice later if you by a 4 channel amp........speaking of which I need to install mine one of these days.

everyone is throwing around terms without realizing what they really mean...if you want a true SQ install, you want flat/transparent sound that doesnt color the source. Saying you want more bass or whatever is not SQ. Everyone has different tastes...best best is go around to local shops and listen to everything. Make sure they turn off all eq's on the HU you are listening to.
