I was wondering if anybody knew if they (toyota) were going to redo the celica. It seems that they have been changing it every 5 or so years. I hope they'll have a redisigned 8th gen that looks less boxy than the 7th and not as femenin.

330 that's it? i read somewhere that toyota are stuffing the newly design hybrid engine that produces 500hp to the new supra.... but yet.. it's still a rumor.. who knows what would happen... they might just realize one day that they need the celica in the market and reproduce a celica with AWD and twin turbo v6 engine lol... i'm just dreaming lol.

There was rumours of a 7th Gen GT4 which actually made it to prototype level, was big time hush hush and I only ever saw one photograph of it heavily covered up in some UK car mag, "Evo" I think, snapped by some papperatsi hidden in a bush trackside, so you can imagine the quality of the photo, but the project was shelved when Toyota decided to stick with Formula One, Either the Celica will die out once and for all after the 7th Gen or the Celica badge will move to Lexus. But who knows, hopefully Toyota will see sence and produce an 8th Gen of Celica, but I wouldnt hold your breath.....

The low level of sales for the celica and mr2 prompted Toyota to start Scion and eliminate the celi and mr2 in hopes that the younger generation would look to scion.
Supras should not be awd, it would probably lose alot of core fans. -------------------- |

QUOTE(Supersprynt @ Mar 18, 2005 - 5:53 PM) Supras should not be awd, it would probably lose alot of core fans. ALL supras SHOULD BE AWD. AWD is awsome. Have you ever drove an awd? Best car experience ever, I drove the VR-4 (3000 gt) and an evo. hard to explain, but alot more power is felt -------------------- To live, is to suffer

toyota is just going in an entirely different route... "toyota" brandname now is focused on its truck series (with new logo and chevrolet 'like a rock' style advertising schemes) and its family cars and vehicles. While lexus, always being toyota's luxury marquee, is continuing that theme and also adding more performance to the name plate. the Lexus LF-A concept is the next generation supra... as it stands it has a 500 HP output motor, numbers likely will change when the production model arrives... however the price (streight from the source at the NAIAS where the car was debuted) WILL be over 100,000 dollars when it becomes a production model... as far as celicas stateside it was officially announced by toyota at the end of last year the celica and MRS are both discontinued at the end of the 05 model year. you can essentially say the tC is a replacement since it is taking over the void the celica leaves, its the same kind of "replacement" the cobalt is for the cavalier... its a very different vehicle occupying the same class as its predecessor. there have been plenty of talks associated with a new mid-engine toyota manufactured vehicle, it's been spied many times doing track testing along side the LF-A, toyota has not announced anything officially reguarding the car, and theres no certainty which marquee it will fall under, the MR2OC does have a forum for the "MK4 MR2" but the consensus seems to be that it will not see this side of the pond atleast for its first few production years.
http://autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=101280 something i found in the MR2OC MK4 forum... interesting read -------------------- Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm... Ten Speed, of God's Blood & Burial |
