Im diving out of work tonight and its freaking dark. My windows were fogged up and I thought i had enouhg clearance, but my rear D/s tire ended up going over the 6" concrete curb. The car doens't feel the same after. No broken noiuse, but it feels rougher than before. How can I check for a bent rim? or what else might this have done? I know that there can be a lot, but Im not sure what could have been hurt. I was going like 15 Mph.

take off tire and rim, find a pole, spin tire, see if it wobbles

To check for a bent rim, jack the car up, tape a bit of wire (old coat hanger or similar) to the car so that the end of the wire is at the edge of the rim, rotate wheel and see if there is any movement away of towards the bit of wire. Also check your trackrod ends, these go often and need to be checked every now and then anyway.

They are on the front wheels rearwards of the shocks, they are the bits that come off of your steering, on the gt4 they are about half way up the shock, not sure on your car. If you can take a photo (jpeg) and I`ll put an arrow on it pointing out your track rod ends if you cant find them.
A way to test that your trackrod ends are gone is to grab the left and right side of the wheel and try to rock your hands back and forth, (not in the direction of rotation), movement this way will indicate worn track rod ends, jacking up your car will help but not necessary. biggrin.gif

I hit curbs all the time. No big deal! :-) Guys at the alignment place expect to see me every few months. But ive gone a good 6 months without being in there. :-) Good Natalie! :-)

Its no biggie really. I hit some big turtle bumps in the road at 60 and bent all 4 wheels. the wheel shakes and the car goes where it wants to but its not bad!

That reminds me... I hit a pot hole not too long ago and blew out both passenger side tires and screwed one of my stock GT alloys. The city is covering the expenses (well I'm still waiting on the cheque but it's supposedly coming) but the tire place charged $110 to straighten a rim that's probably not worth half that amount. Total bill was $600.
