Springs and Winter.., just a thought Options

I was just wondering who on here has lowering springs on their car and drives their car through the winter (I don't mean florida / cali winters) i mean ny or toronto winters, where there's actually snow!

to those who do drive their cars in the winter with lowering springs, have you had any problems before? (ie: getting stuck)

If you look at my profile, i have a pic in there with my celi covered... took me about an hour to dig it out, i was plowing snow when driving on unplowed roads, and i got stuck tryin to turn on my road that night.

But that would have happened, even if your car was at stock height. He is referring to problems that people have that wouldn't happen if the car wasn't lowered.

I live in MD so we get the worst of both climates. Im sure the snow here isnt nearly as bad as you, but i have not had a problem. I was amazed how the celi did int he snow, just made me wanna keep driving. The only problem i would have would, be hitting those nasty ice chunks left ont he road.. but otherwise great.

yeah, my car is stock and still hit those chunks. i hate them. i think alot of it is more your tires, low pro's arent made for snow (well most of them arent). I wish they made the good year tripple tread tire in low pro.... it looks good, and would be great year round for traction. If you have a kit and are at stock heigh, its prolly about the same as stock car lowered.... and how often do your drive before the roads are plowed anyways? they get plowed really fast around here, the only problem i have is my driveway, but i dont have a kit, and im at stock height....the bottom of the car drags in the snow, and then i get stuck when the snow pile up too much in front of the car.

I wouldnt have gotten stuck if it werent lowered, and i wouldnt have been draging as much snow as i did. My dads car is higher than mine, but lower than mine was before i put springs on, and he didnt have a problem

yeah, my car is stock and still hit those chunks. i hate them. i think alot of it is more your tires, low pro's arent made for snow (well most of them arent). It was around 4 in the afternoon, and it snowed overnight But yah, they usually do get them cleared quick, but it snowed ALOT, and it all came down quick.

And what else sucks that seems to happen alot, is that they plow all the streets but yours. So you have this mountain to get over to get to your street where all the snow ended up on the side of the street. Blah. I hate livin on a dead end street.

I think shorter springs are worth it anyways.

Last year here in ohio we got like 15inchs in our area. Well i have summer tires and tein springs on my celica and it will bearly go through 2inchs because of my tires. My g/f's stock celica went through the stuff pretty decent but she was still getting stuck when the snow got like 8+inchs high. I wouldnt worry abotu being lowered or not. A inch or two difference is no big deal because you are talking like 8-10inchs of snow clearance anyways and thats just too much snow for these little cars to be driving on in the first place, Stock or not.

Sounds like montana - we get tons of snow up here and it gets damned cold..
lowered cars are almost not an option to be driving through the snow..
