For those of you who have wondered, the 4agze will not bolt up to the stock 7afe (c52 transmission), not with the gze's flywheel anyway. The bellhousing is nowhere near the correct size, and will not fit.
So someone should correct the sticky, because I know everyone always tells everyone that it 'should work'. I do have a backup plan so I will be using the e51 tranny, but need to get another custom axle (pita). I need someone who really know's their **** w/ axles to pm me, maybe I'll post pics later tonight. w/e, so tired. later folks... -FAQ -------------------- AIM : FAQdaWorld

I coulda sworn I mentioned this before... The 4AGZE flywheel is 224mm and it's completely different from typical 4AG flywheels. Personally, dealing with the E51 would be a bit too much for me, so I'd just get a 4AG flywheel and use the C52... so I wouldn't have to mess with axles, mounts, or anything else.

Yeah, use the 4AGE flywheel and you should be set. For that matter, the 7AFE flywheel might even work, I know the clutch kit is the same...

what, your trying to say that the 4agze and 7afe clutch kit are the same? or the ge clutch kit? I am just gonna go custom w/ the pass side axle. for now, just thought that everyone should know this, and perhaps correct the sticky, as there is no mention of it anywhere.

IIRC, the 7A flywheel will not work on a 4AGZ, as the crankshaft has a diffrent number of bolts.

the 4AGE = 7AFE
aka their clutch kits are the same you need either 4age or 7afe tranny the 4agze does not match cause the 4agze doesn't match the 4age either if the housing matches the block (7afe housing 4agze block) then you could use the 7afe flywheel i think is wat people are saying This post has been edited by playr158: May 8, 2005 - 10:42 AM |

QUOTE(playr158 @ May 8, 2005 - 3:41 PM) the 4AGE = 7AFE aka their clutch kits are the same you need either 4age or 7afe tranny the 4agze does not match cause the 4agze doesn't match the 4age either if the housing matches the block (7afe housing 4agze block) then you could use the 7afe flywheel i think is wat people are saying Umm... the 7AFE flywheel is basically the same thing as the 4AGE flywheel, except it has only 6 bolts. 4AG's have 8 bolts. There are 2 different 4AGE flywheels, and either should work. One is the older flywheels (200mm) which came on the older 4AGE's. The other is the 212mm flywheel, which come on the later model (88+) 4AGE's. The 7AFE clutch kit should work on the 212mm 4AGE flywheel. If you get a 200mm flywheel from the older MR2's or Corolla GTS's, then use the appropriate clutch. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

DMC and i ran into the same problem a few weeks ago. So the solution was to use a 4age lighten flywheel with a 4age clutch kit.
A 7afe flywheel will not bolt up to a 4agze or a 4age. the 4a has an 8 bolt pattern, while the 7a has a 6 bolt pattern. As you can all see, here is a 4agze with the 7afe tranny. well u can sorta see it. But its in there. -------------------- Chris Malaqui

I can confirm that the 7AFE and the later 4AGE clutch kits are the same. Actually, it's the same tranny, so it makes sense.

Anyway, i ran the celica for a good while today, got everything circulating, wil lhave a video later today, (much later considering its allready monday). Anyway, i'll post that later along w/ some pics so we I can get some axle related questions answered.
Video As promised, the video not too long, and about 10 meg. But shows the engine running and revving a bit. It's gonna sound weird cuz there's only a downpipe on the sucker. -Ryan This post has been edited by FAQdaWorld: May 9, 2005 - 5:24 PM -------------------- AIM : FAQdaWorld

Here's the axle that i'm gonna ask a quick q about....
I'm pretty sure i allready know the answer, but is it possible to remove the cv joints and replace the actual axle bar w/ a longer bar and then put the joints back on. If i understand how the axle is actually made it should be possible, but i could be mistaken. Lemme know asap please fellas. -ryan -------------------- AIM : FAQdaWorld

There are rings that hold the ends of the axles on, you have to take something and knock the ends off. |

Could a new bar be made is what I'm asking that will work with it, i know it'd have to be the same like method of attaching to the joint.
