The thing in the picture is the stock amp.
The ECU is actually deeper than that.

Unplug the car harness from that amp and connect it to the adaptor harness that you should have got with the new unit, there should be a short harness section from that old amp to the current head unit you wont need anymore .

Screw the stock amp! You won't need it anymore. I completely removed mine and put my alarm there.

I had the same problem my man. Let me tell ya, it is HARD to get to those wires, unless you remove the whole amp alltogether. I had to reach all the way under the amp, grab the wires and unplug them. I used the how-to guide...it really helps.

The harness that i bought has plugs that plug into your stock plugs. So, no wire cutting. Basically, that means i can still use that amp. Then the other end of that harness has the open wires for the aftermarket reciever. harness

This is complete utter bull-crap. After more research and careful evaluation, what I have is Toyota's "Premium Sound." So, on the back, there is only one plug. I went back to my audio store in town, and told them i have a stock amp. They knew exactly what i was talking about, gave me a special plug in exchange for the old double plugs, and he said that's it. It has your basic, turn on wire for the stock and any other amp. it has 4 rca's input and output. Ground, Battery/Memory, Ignition/Accy, Power Antenna, and Amplifier Turn on. If you would like a picture, i would be glad to provide that.

No it's NOT bullcrap! He's right on. The "premium sound" system is the stereo with the separate factory amp. The amp has one plug going into it(from the receiver) and one plug coming out of it BUT splits into TWO plugs that go into the factory wiring. In order to use the factory wiring with an aftermarket HU you MUST do 1 of 2 things: a) plug into the 2 blue factory plugs or b) find an adaptor that plugs into the 1 plug coming OUT of the amp. I found it easier and cheaper to do "a" but I believe they do make adaptors to do "b". Either way, you have to bypass the amp or the signal will get amplified twice - and no, that's not a good thing.

This AF harness is made to connect between the reciever and the IN harness.

So, it'll go: Reciever, After Market harness, Stock Harness IN, Stock Amp, Stock Harness OUT

So, you're using the receiver's pre-outs then? I assumed that you didn't want to use the factory amp, my mistake.
I don't know how good the factory amp is, but I think I'd rather use the head unit's built-in amp or an aftermarket amp instead.

Well, if you think about it, the stock reciever probably puts out 50x4 watts plus the amp to run the premium speakers. So, if my new reciever is putting out 54X4 watts, then i should still use that stock amp. Especially if there is a aftermarket harness to get everything you can out of the amp.
