That's how the Korean automakers work, look at the Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima. They take body ideas from other cars and put them into their own design. I will say that the 1st and 2nd Gen Tiburon weren't designed by Hyundai though, don't remember the name but I can find it.

Hyundai Sonata=Mercedes headlights, Jaguar rear end styling
Kia Optima=Lexus headlights

Well the new Sonata is more Mitsubishi like, probably due to their close ties.

I think the late 90's Integras are similar too with their round headlights, though not as dramatic as the Celica and Tiburon. Everyone tends to follow the trends, cars have been that way since they were invented.

Look at the lights and the grill. It's the same overall shape, just tweaked a bit.

All designs bar a slight few folow trends... our 6gc's were an evolution of what the 3rd gen soarer/lexus SC's started, and thats what toyota tells us... if you look at most cars, they all steal certain elements from "hot at the time" cars... its called modern design. If you expect fresh and new 100% of the time, we would live in an abstract artist's world rolleyes.gif that said, look at the Tiburon in a honest perspective- first gen pre facelif models were VERY well designed cars- yes the window line from the side looks like a 5th gen liftback, but the car oozed sexy curves everywhere you looked. The facelift model tried to add unneeded masculinity in my opinion, and it wasnt nearly as sucessful imo... the current tiburons were designed after the late ferarri 456 GT, and NOT, as belived by popular consensus, designed by the same person (AKA Pinninfarina studios), and they are very sexy cars for the money you have to spend... if you disagree point me to somthing equivalant in terms of design for 20G... dont hate on the Koreans for "selling out"... The japanese did the exact same thing 30 years ago in most peoples eyes and now they practically rule the automotive world. The Koreans are already on the fast track to becoming just as huge, and if what is going on in now time, they just might scare the japanese more than they would like to admit...

Hyundai designed the newest Tiburon, the Korean automakers are still somewhat in there adolecence, Hyundai is pulling a Mitsubishi, partially because D-C owns I think 26%-37% of the company (I can't remember I quit working for Hyundai a year ago) same as Hyundai owns some of Kia (6%, I think). The new Tiburon shares a similar 2.7 Litre V6 engine that is in the Stratus R/T, and actually has some references to Mitsubishi in their design (overall, not just Tiburon). Saleeka is right about the Ferrari insperation though. Hyundai did just close the gap on Japanese automakers by building the new US factory.

I'm pretty sure the Stratus R/T shares a 3.0 with Mitsubishi. Dodge and Mitsubishi have been platform sharing since the 80's starting with the mirage/colt, laser/talon/eclipses, eclipse/galant/avenger/sebring, and now the eclipse/stratus/sebrings. The Avenger had a different engine than the Eclipse turbos at the time, but I think the new Stratus shares engines with the Eclipse. Wait, just looked it up, the coupe shares the 3.0 with the Eclipse, and the four-door has a 2.7. I don't know where that engine comes from though.

I knew it was something like that. If anyone remembers the early '90s Excel (haha it's not that hard to forget it) the 4G series of engines can actually be swapped in easily. I believe Hyundai also uses the 3.0 in the XG's.
Sport Compact
I think it's funny that the Excel shares a lot of chassis resemblance to Mitsubishi.
