Im plannin on painting the center console, vents, speaker covers and the trim on the door where the window switches are. I went to a local shop called performance improvements n they have "Interior paint - Perfect for carpet, plastics and every thing else", but the thing is they want $22 a can thumbsdown.gif so i was wondering what kinda paint would b the best n will only run a few bucks a can. Also when duing the center console i want to paint really close to where the clock is..is there a way 2 remove the clock??

as for the clock...masking tape works wonders...just cover the entire clock in masking tape and make sure none of the tape is covering the trim...should work just fine.

Also, a hard lesson I had to learn...use a LOT of thin layers and let each layer dry completely before starting the next...my integra interior looked like sh*t cuz I was in too much of a hurry...good thing I wrecked the bastard and got my celica smile.gif thank god for insurance

after a long time, maybe, but it shouldnt if you give it a good finishing coat. Besides, if it does, just sand it back down to the plastic and repaint it, or get new dash inserts. Personally, I plan on redoing my inserts eventually, but not for a few years, so if / when it happens, I guess that will be convenient for me. As for the clock, it and most other pieces that fit into the inserts (such as vents, knobs, etc) are locked in by wedges of plastic that can be pushed down to remove them, or the plastic around them can be lifted up. You can use a small flat head screw driver.

How durable is doing this? I would like to do it but don’t want to do it now then 3 months down the road have to do it again. It sounds simple enough if you just take your time. How long has this lasted for someone who has actually done it?

You are painting plastic. There is nothing special about it, really. Ever paint models as a kid? If you use the right primer, paint, and finish, it will last a long time.

That white thing next to the stereo isn't a chip I probably a cig ash and I know my CD player screen is broke, it ate my CD and wouldn't give it back so I punched it, j/k. Be careful when wet sanding the plastic stuf I used 600 grit and it takes the gloss out.
