Ok guys, yesterday i had a shop cut a hole in the inner fender right next to the battery, well long story short the wires in a yellow loom that go somewhere into the drivers high beam got tangled in the air grinder, the insulating tore open and caused the copper wire in the wires to become exposed, i separated them and wrapped them in black tape, but now the air bag warning light came on in the dash and wont go away, anybody know what to do? frown.gif

Personally, i'd take it to a professional mechanic or (gasp) toyota. The airbag is NOT something you should be screwing with.

first make sure all of the wire connections are secure. Then try to reset the ECU by taking off the negative nattery terminal, waiting 30 sec, then reconnecting it. If the light still stays on, then taking it to a Toyota dealership to have it reset is probably the only other option. If you talk to the guys at the dealership they will probably do it for free, should take a few minutes.

yup, you ( or they) prolly fried the airbag ecu..if you dont wanna fix it, i sugest disconnecting the airbag ecu , (MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED WHEN YOU DO IT! lol) cause id be worried about the airbag going off for no particular reason, and that would suck. wink.gif

but i don't expect my bags to go off next time i wreck....so i don't plan on wrecking

The sensors are on the sides of the A/C condenser. You have to pull the condenser to access the two Torx bolts per side to remove/replace them.

But back to your original question, I would for sure make the shop who did the damage pay a good Toyota dealer(you may have to go out of town) to fix it. Airbags can save your life and you don't want just anyone messing with them.

cant you just pull a fusible link to disable the whole system, including the light? Theres got to be a better way to get the ab light off than discnonecting the bulb... Both my bags were deployed and cut out so I also need to rid of this light, whats the best way? Which fuse do i pull?

Also, whats the best way to get pass bag flap down? I wanted to replace with lcd monitor but doesnt look like will fit. Dont want to take whole airbag out, just get flap down.

just push it down use some epoxy to hold it....

you pull out the fuse and you will fail inspection even easier......
seriously the best way is just take out the bulb it honestly takes 5 min to take it out pull the bulb and put it back in
