first off, i need to know whether my celica, which has power locks, runs off negative switching door pin switches or postive 12 volt door pin switches. also, there is a wire that hooks to the brain of my alarm to detect if someone gets in the car through my trunk, does anyone know what wire to splice that into? my alarm system is a crimeguard 745i

Actually Pali_playa's alarm thread is better but;

Power Lock is Blue/Black and its negative located under the steering column its a small black box.

Power Unlock is Blue/Green and is Negative as well.

And the turnk pin which is negative is on the drivers side kick panel and is Red/Green

It's a negative door trigger. Test the red and white wires and find the one that gives you +12 volts with both doors closed and ground with either(or both) doors open. I may have a picture of exactly which wire you need to tap into at home.

And I'm not sure about the trunk pin. I do know that on hatchbacks it's tied into the door pin circuit, but not on coupes.

Yeah, I'll look when I get home. I'm off work in twenty minutes and then I'm probably going straight home.

ok, i found a wire that goes to 12+ volts when the drivers door is closed and no reading when its opened. however, the reading is not effected when the pass. door is opened or closed. did i find the wrong wire? btw, i dont htink convertibles have the option to have the dome lights come on when the doors open like the other celicas.

damn it, why is it that the passengers side coutesy light (the red light that lights up when you open the door thats ON the door) only lights up when the drivers door is open? if i open only the passengers side door, the light doesnt go on. that must be affecting something

Let me guess. The wire you found is red with a yellow stripe, right? There's one that's seperate for the driver's door(for the auto off headlights and such), and at some point it combines with the red/white wire(I think at the integration relay.)

i think i found the problem, the passengers side door trigger isnt working, that is the only solution. Now i need to locate where in the hell the problem is. is the door open light in the dash light up when everyone elses pass. door is open? what does it mean when the red/white wire right next to the pass. side trigger registers 12 volts no matter if the door is opened or closed?
