I got Curren Tail Lights recently. Installation was simple. I was informed of this problem last night. My tail lights won't light up at night. Like when your high beams are on, I know that your tail lights are supposed to light up red, and then even more red when you brake. It does light up when I brake, but not when my headlights are on... This is dangerous. Lol. I'm thinking I connected the plug backwards. Could this be the problem? Please help. A.S.A.P.

well the bulbs should be right.i mean, its brand new. theyre curren tails. i believe theyre the same bulbs. the old lights did work fine. they light up the first set of red when its night time, and then the second set of red lights up when you brake. the first set dont light up. they do when i use the remote start. they light up, but when i start the car and its night time, it dont light up. please help. the plugs were plugged correctly. i dont think theres anything wrong with the lights, theyre brand new. the cars wiring is right because it worked fine with my old lights.

There are two possibiliities: (1) bulbs, (2) wiring. I would lean toward wiring because its doubtful that new lights would come with burnt out bulbs...but who knows?

actually, i think its the other way around. when my headlights are off, they're off, but when my headlights are on, the tail lights stay off. everything else works at all times, the turn signals work all the time and the brake lights work all the time. the only thing is that the tails dont come on when my headlights are on. they do come on when i remote start the car. all the lights come on and so do the tail lights. but when the cars on normally, they dont come one. please help. thanks. i saw a thread where coomer needed some help and the whole forum was on it. so i know a lot of people here know their stuff when it comes to electrical and wiring. all the help will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Are the bulbs the double contact kind? My friend had a similar problem with his parking lights on his pontiac, we had to open it up and bend a contact wire so that it would work correctly.

im not sure what u mean by double contact... the thing i dont understand is how i seem to be the only one from the group buy with the curren lights that has problems. i figure everyone else would. and i mean, when the oem lights where on my car, they worked perfectly.

well my problem is more with the wiring or bulbs. maybe even fuses in the car. i dont know. for now, im driving at night risking someone hitting my ass. but its all good. i got the nitrous. lol. anyway, i dont know about the gaps. mine fit perfectly. i took a pic of the passenger side tail to see if it helps. i mean, i have a little gap, but i think that's normal. with the trunk closed, it looks normal. the tail light is missing the black outline around the top because thats where the trunk closes. it was done on purpose. i dont know if this is what you mean? if not, then it must be something with the chassis of your car that wont let it sit right. mine bolted directly with the old holes and everything. my car's been crashed before but it fit fine. i dont know if thats your case. if not then i honestly have no idea on what to tell you.

ok this is how it happens
cause i JUST did it when you installed a side when you tighten it down the wiring harness will get pinched between the body and the light housing so when you tighten the nut it squeezes the wire.....and creates a grounding point for short thus blowing the fuse for the "tails" this how ever does not blow the "stop" fuse allowing you to push your brakes down and have them light up so undo them and find out where you pinched the wires and then carefully put them back in making sure not to get wires pinched replace the blown "tail" fuse 15amp and your ready to go |
