hey guys i got a quick question

how much power do you think a 1990ish crx(non si) turboed at 5/6psi nonintercooled would make?

keep in mind that the engine only makes 62hp and 90 torque at the crank stock.

thanks,
Anthony

5 psi / 14.7 + 1 x 62hp

= 83.09HP

there's actually a kid in town (my town) that drives a 90ish CRX turboed, but I believe his is intercooled. I smoked him back in the day by about 3 cars (I was spraying) so I doubt he put more than 130-150 at the crank...

Instead of going turbo on the stock engine, why not just swap a B16A2 (Civic Si engine) in there? It will make more power than the turbo and probably would cost less. Guaranteed 14's on the swap and low to mid 14's with the addition of i/h/e.

It's not really worth turbo charging the non SI. If you do a swap the better engine to use is the B16A1. It was offered as an engine option in the JDM CRX. The B16A1 is easier to do the swap with because the engine is OBDI where as the newer B16A2 is OBDII and you would have more touble with wiring. The B16A1 is also cheaper. Also if you run into a CRX Si 88-91 model year it will out run our Celicas stock.

Dude, a buddy of mine has a 91 CRX SI and I bashed him. He had a manual and he might suck at driving though...

He must not be able to drive because with my 88 CRX SI I've out run several 6 gen Celicas. I'm want to do a B16A1 engine swap but after I do a few more things to my Celi and my IS.

bla.bla......

well first of all you said that's non-SI CRX but you didn't specify it it's HF or STD, because STD makes 92 hp, and hf makes 62....

-if it's "STD" and turboed that's nasty fast...the reason why....?!? the engine is 1.5L SOHC (for STD) but turboing that engine you can produce as much horsepower as B16A (A1/A2/A3) - 160hp - but the problem with B16s is that they have no torque (111), so having CRX std with stock engine turboed would be around 160hp, and also you would have even more torque then hp.... results = 14second CRX

-if it's"HF" then there is no potential and he can't be pushing more then 120hp - (SUX for CRX)

note: drunken_style ever heard of OBD0 instead of OBD1 !?!?!? ----you did say 88 ---- hehe lol -kind of old

First off if it's a non-SI it would have to either be a HF or a DX. The DX comes with a SOHC D15B2 which puts out 92 horsepower and 89 lb ft of torque. A rough estimate of turbo charging a DX would be around $3,000 to $3,500. You could do the B16 swap for the same price if not a little less and have more power with a slight increase in displacement. The B16 has far more after-market support than the D15. With the B16 you should be able to get to 300-400 whp with a properly built engine. D15 don't have much torque either. Oh on the OBD issue there's only non OBD, OBD1 and OBD2. My bad the B16 first gen is non ODB not ODB1.

Ziggy what's up with the comment on the age of my car. If you check my sig you'll notice that my two other cars are newer than yours. hehe.

It should say what model it is on the rear in the right hand corner. HF, DX or Si.

Poor baby do you need to run to daddy and have him take care of this for you. At first I thought you were just kidding so I responded but I was just J/K. Don't forget you started with the smart*** comment. The G35 is a sweet car I thought about buying it instead of my IS but I need a car that comfortable carry four people. The G35 sedan is ugly as hell. I rather stay in the Toyota/Lexus family anyways and get the new Supra or whatever it will be called when it's released. So we now can either act like adults or we can continue to exchange smart*** comments. You're call.
