Maybe the pedal switch is broken.

No, I'm not even sure where it is, lol. I just know that theres a switch that activates the brake lights when you depress the switch. Try calling your local Toyota dealer and describe the problem. They'll tell you what exactly the part is called, how much it costs, installation, etc.
Good Luck! -------------------- |

Its under the dash up close to where the pedal pivots, simple on/off push switch, the pedal pushes it in to turn off the brake lights when you are NOT pushing the brake pedal. easy enough to check with a simple test light, light should light on either terminal to ground when the pedal is pushed and only one terminal should light the test light when the pedal is released. dont remember on the celica, but some cars had 4 terms on the brake light switch, 2 for brake lights and 2 for the cruise control, pretty sure the celica only has 2 terms,,,too lazy to look in the shop manual right now...
should be available at any parts store for under 10 bucks if its really broke and not simply unplugged or out of adjustment, |
