Thread Rules
1. No talking about money
2. No talking about why this shouldn't be done
3. No talking about a 3S swap or FTE
4. Not talking about anything that doesn't add info about this eninge being put in to a 6gc.net

Ok so i'm at work thinking again.... and i know this has be talked about before.. but this time i want to real talk.... I have always thought putting a 2ZZ in 6gc is a good idea for many reason ...

1. Its a new engine wich can be found every easy in the states...
2. 180hp out of the box...
3. Newer engine so emmission won't or shouldn't be an issue
4. it is a toyota engine and is so well designied... and hap plenty of potential ..

i have a lot of other reason.. but lets hear some other ones.... and how u guys would go with this swap ...

Well, being that I know a couple things about the 2ZZGE, (see the Hellish Mantis swap on www.phoenixtuning.com ), here is how you do it.

First of all, the engine mounts are in the same place as every other Toyota, with some minor variations. Typically you'll need to redrill a couple bolt holes, build a spacer and use some longer bolts, slot some bolt holes, etc, or in the more extreme cases, build custom mounts. The bottom line is, it's close.

The next major issue are the axles. I automatically assume that you want the 6-speed, why would you not, right? It's likely that one of the sets of axles would work, either from a 2ZZGE Celica or from a 5SFE Celica, we would have to try. With the Corolla that I did we needed custom units which were $300.

Next up is the wiring which is exactly the same deal as a 3SGTE, if you can do one you can do the other, the difference being it is OBD2 so you have more wires to deal with and whatnot. The nice thing is you have full access to the diagrams since the car was actually released here!

The exhaust manifold needed to be modified to fit into the Corolla, there might be more room in the Celica, if not then it needs to be changed a bit. Not a big deal for a good exhaust shop to do.

The intake can be a stock 2ZZGE Celica GTS unit.

The shifter assembly and cables from a 2ZZ Celica GTS will be needed because of the 6th gear.

That's all I can think of right now. Of course they'll be issues of power steering lines, a/c lines, and that sort of thing to sort out. And the wiring of the 2ZZGE is VERY extensive and complicated, much more so than a 3SGTE. Like I said, it's the same thing, just more. For example, the cooling fans and the entire a/c system is controlled by the ECU, so that system has to be TOTALLY rewired. But again, you can actually get the diagrams to do it!

There it is, folks. Anyone who wants this done, I can do it no problem, labor on the swap would be $900, add another $200 for an auto/manual conversion, and all the parts.

Lastly, in a blatent breakage of the rules laid out in the first post, just do a 3SGTE swap because it would be better. tongue.gif x 1000

How much does a 2ZZ-GE and the six-speed tranny with low miles and a harness cost?

seeing that you can go stand alone and mounts can be placed anywhere with time and precision. The only real problem will be axles. Use the 2zz inner shafts mated with the 5s outer shafts. Now, is the wheel base of the 6th and 7th get different? Will be have the correct axle length? Will we need custom axles?
