I contacted a local seller about the racing koyo radiator and the listing says it for manual so i asked him if they have it for auto and they said no. but why cant the manual version work on a auto?? his reasoning was "because it does NOT have the transmission oil cooler lines". does this sound right or should i try it and make it work?

according to koyo's website theres only one racing radiator available, although they do not say if its for auto or manual.

The automatic cars came equipped with a transmission oil cooler stock. This tranny cooler is built into the stock radiator. If you look at the bottom of your stock radiator, you will see two smaller lines coming off and heading towards the transmission. Those are the cooler lines.
The only way to use the Koyo on an auto would be to get an aftermarket tranny cooler also. -Kaleb |

I have the koyo for my 5spd. its shiney
however, it didnt change the coolant temp gauge in the car... Youd need a new water pump or a higher pressure cap or something to do that. and yeah, you would need the auto transmission cooler of some sort.. -------------------- If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.

i got the koyo race rad too and it wont drop temps with a diff cap either... you would have to run a colder thermostat or run without one for temps to go down. running a tranny cooler is nto hard to do so i woul say you could pull it off if it being way thicker has nothing to do with the auto version?

The AUTO tranny runs two small coolant lines to the bottom of the radiator. I suspect Koyo *should* have those spouts welded in... cause most aftermarket radiators are deisgned to fit both auto and manual cars. For the guys that have the Koyo alluminum radiator... does it have two spouts at the base of the radiator? That should answer your questions...

Ill get a pic when I get my car back As we were talking about a few posts up - you need a new/no thermostat to get it cooler. Also I think someone said a water pump would help in the past. -------------------- If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.

what do you need a racing radiator for? are you planning some performance mods for your enging? or is it just for looks? If you're planning on actually racing, I might recommend switching transmissions.
