Take your time with the swap. Dont rush through it, make sure you change most of the seals and gaskets once the engine is out. Change the timing belt with the engine out.
Take the radiator out of the clip it will give you more room. unplug the harness from the ecu and rest it on top of the engine. you can pull the harness off when the engine is out. make sure the clip is on some solid supports like jack stands. get all the other mounts in before you drill in the passanger side mount good luck DEF -------------------- I will return one day. |

yes put wheels and tires on it to move it around if you dont have a fork lift, much easier and you wont break parts. You need about five friends to help move it around. get zip lock bags and lable all the hardware you remove with a sharpie and dont cut any hoses or lines, remove them. We are doing 96 Celica at my shop right now, we got a MR2 3SGTE engine and trans, and a st185 front clip, using the accessories, brackets, 1/2 shafts, mounts, trans cables, pedals and wire harness from the ST185, and the 3SGTE and trans from the MR2. So we even have the spare engine and ALL TRACK trans when we get done, what to do with that eh? good luck and let me know if you have some questions. madmike of Kingsland Customs, Portage WI This post has been edited by madmike: Aug 23, 2005 - 2:06 AM |

Just pull the wiring out and have dg do it for you. He did mine and my car started up first try no trouble shooting needed.
You can use the st185 mounts you will have to do one custom mount whether front or back, if your useing the mr2 tranny. If not you will need the gt mounts. Order all your parts ahead of time I have been waiting for axles for a freakin month now and they should be arriving tommorow. I beleive I used the st185 shift cables but not sure I'll have to double check on it, I either used those or the ones in my st I didn't have to buy new ones. Also get it running for a while before you decide to do any upgrades, leave the boost stock, the only thing I might change is the stock IC. |

Like Jeff said, be sure to change all gaskets and seals(within reason) while the engine is out. Also, don't forget a new thermostat...that's the one thing I didn't replace while my engine was out and it was stuck open, so it had to be replaced once the car was drivable and full of coolant...not fun.

I would also get the speedsource shifter cable bushings. Great mod for $26 and easy to do with the engine out. Also, change your coolant.

my brace has an upward angle to it. I think the TRD is flat ?
The j-speed brace was designed for the ST205, thats why mine fits. If the TRD is flat, I dont think it will fit. DEF -------------------- I will return one day. |

this pic it shows the upward angle of the mount to mount cross piece.
Note: most of the components are uninstalled. This is just to give you and idea how the strut bar would look installed. DGperformance makes excellent products. If that TRD doesnt work, I would suggest PM'ing him. DEF -------------------- I will return one day. |

I think if you go FMIC you MIGHT be able to pull it off, i don't know how tall the TMICs are compared to the 2.5" IC piping
