Looking for information from those who changed their suspension arms (the pairs of lateral arms between the centre of the body and the rear knuckle, two to a side, that some people refer to as rear control arms).

I'm a fifth-gen owner (please don't delete this) but question relates to sixth-gen parts, and would apply to sixth-gens as well.

Now that I've replaced my sway bar bushings, sway bar endlinks, rear strut and rear strut mounts -- all on Toyota's say-so -- I'm utterly certain the problem I have is one of the suspension arms. Nothing else left to change.

Almost certain it's the driver's side No. 2 (rearmost) suspension arm.

What did you have to do to change the rear suspension arms? What parts other than the arms did you need (e.g. bolts, cams, etc)? Is there anything you'd do differently?

Between the suspension work, the brake conversion and gas prices, my car budget is essentially blown for the year, but I have to fix this soon. The arm is so bad it creaks when a strong wind hits the car.

Had the idea of installing a set of arms from a 1999 (sixth-gen). I can get them for US$35 instead of US$100 each and shipping will be less. I know they're not new, but at least they're nine years newer than mine. And apparently they have a superior toe adjustment system, but should fit.

Any thoughts? Or any pics of the suspension arms where they join the body so i can see any differences -- search only turned up a diagram?
