I am hoping that I will be able to turbo my celica within the next year, however with the gas prices now over $3 a gallon. Fuel economy is now a big factor in my decisions. I dont mind paying for high test but I was wondering how people with 7afte do for gas mileage? Please include what you are running for boost. Thanks.

When you say high test, do you mean high test, or just premium? I generally refer to high test as race fuel - 110ish octane....
I dont know about the 7a, but my 3s, running with serious problems, was getting about 20.. I just read a guy got 43mpg with a 440whp MR2.... (Article here) -------------------- If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.

idk if you've ever read a full uscc artical, but the mpg test, is going up a big hill/mountain, then the second half is drivign down it, in other words cruize in 4th gear at like 35mph and 1500rpms up the mountain then put it in neutral for the decent thats not real life driving
thats how in like a 03 on a viper averaged like 32 or something outragous for a v10 |

sorry high test for me is 93. I think that a mild turbo setup could almost yield better fuel economy.

what your gas milage does (with a 5sfTe anyway) is directly related to your right foot.
press it down, waste more gas, simple as that. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

I dont mind that, I just didnt want to do all the research and spend all the money to find out I would be getting 20mpg. I was thinking that I should in theory be able to increase my mileage because there will be more compression. The more compression an engine has the more effecient it is. (depending on how you drive it)

Probably wouldnt help your gas mileage. Higher compression is dependant upon your pistons and the internal structure of your engine. By adding boost, your engine will naturally need more fuel to mix with the larger volume of air under forced induction.
Like Manny said though....it depends how you drive. Its amazing the gas mileage I get with my GT when I'm not always on the throttle. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |
