I'm looking for a complete color change for my car. Its white right now and I want it black and done like factory, so they ya know, have the trims and **** painted too. I went to two shops so far in my area and they said they would charge me around 4k for the color change. Does this sound about right? Thanks for the feedback

yup. in my opinion tho, it'd be easier to sell your car and find a black celica tho.

In my area this is the only 6g celica I found in 13 months of looking! LoL Its not common and I searched for like 500 mile radius. I was thinking of a black like I said, but that damn supra orange is pretty hot.......or maybe a metalic red or somefin...STILL NOT SURE, but I was just curious on the pricing of one, thanks. I guess for now I'll just get it touched up and ****...cuz there is a small dent and a lil rust.

try to find some friends with hook ups. I bet you can get the same job for 2k if you know the right people. although you usually get what you pay for, it doesn't hurt to have an in.

How much should I sell my 94 celica GT 99.5k miles on it with new Greddy Exhaust, Injen Intake, Clarion MP3/CD player, JL component front/rear speakers? Its got a lil rust on the fender, but I got an estimate of 500 to fix it and to do a touch up paintjob on the whole car. Any suggestions? Had the mods for about a week now. Pictures

I think that sounds outrageous. Go to Maaco, or a paint-specific place, not a body shop. I know when my bro has his old car, he did a complete exterior color change(including door jams and what-not) for around 1K. He went to Maaco, too.

4k does seem a little high. Maaco is known for doing somewhat crappy paint jobs unless you do all the prepping yourself and clear coat then it can look decent, around 2k sounds like a decent price for a decent paint job.

I made up my mind and black it is....cuz I'm gonna do a black and red interior. The price I got was to take care of a spot of rust and all the lil dinks in my car. So you guys think 2k with jams and everything is a good price?

2K seems like a good, steady price.

Thanks for the info guys. I could have gotten ripped off with 4k smile.gif I went to a two body shops so far that are "good" from the word on the streets, and one wanted to charge me 4k and the other said around 3.2k but they don't do full color changes anymore because its too much of a hassle. Do you think if I disassembled the car myself and gave it to them they would knock the price down? LOL I'm trying to stretch some cash and still not loose quality smile.gif

that sounds nice, I've got the exact opposite red w/ black interior. in regaurds to the maaco paint jobs, you get what you pay for, the deal with those bodyshops that charge upwards of 4k is they dissasemble the car and strip the panels down to bare metal, reprimer it and re paint it. with maaco they just rough the paint down, and then paint over your stock primer. wherever you go, you should make sure they use quality materials, most places use ppg paint which is stock quality.

good luck with the color change, I hope it turns out to your liking.

Dude I have a white celica also. No choice didn't have a lot of choice when I bought in in upsate NY. Trouble with rust recenty. I also wanted to do a color change to yellow or silver, but honestly you do get what you pay for. Let me give you some advice, once you change to color, you are going to take a serious hit when you try reselling the car. I've also been shopping a few places to get a quaot to paint the car and I am still undecided, expcet that I won't change the color. Unless you get a paint job where all the windows, trims, handles, rubber gaskets are removed there will be areas where when you open the doors, trunk, it will be obvious a color change was done. Also, if you go to macco or a shop that will mask the trim and windows instead of removing them, within 1 to 2 years you get "peelback". This is a thin edge near rubber and plastic where the pain flakes off. Now if you paint white on white not a big deal but if you go to a color change, you start getting white rings around your windows, lights etc. This will look terrible, and will cost money again to repaint or reblend. How do I know, my car was used when I bought it and was repainted. Looked great for a year then peelback started. Nearly 3 years later quite a bit of peelback. Now I'm guessing the company that did the work did a ****ty job so they could sell it and it was off their hands. Avoid Macco, and don't change the color of the car. Spend your money maybe on a body kit, or mods for the car.

Yeah man, just enjoy the car while you have it, then when you come accross one that is in equal or better condition, sell this one for the color you want. ITs not worth the headache, inital expense and then immediate depreciation of a color change. I know its frustrating, trust me I'm looking to get used 16" wheels for my car (posted elsewhere) that are from a GT-S because I don't want the expediture for new wheels on an older vehicle. Plus with the money saved I could put that towards lowering the car.
