Hey guys I'm replacing the timing belt, and according to the manual when the hole in the crank pully is at 0 the marks on the cam shaft pulleys should be at the 12 o clock position. But the book I have is for a 91 USDM alltrac. Well at 0 the cam pulleys are at about 10 o'clock and if I turn it another revolution, the pulleys are at about 3 or 4 o clock.

Can my timing be this far off? Should I just reset them?

Ok its wierd I pulled the valve cover off to check the cam alignment marks and they were right on, and I also check for TDC in #1 cylinder and it was TDC so I guess its ok. Just the crank pulley mark is not lining up.

Well it looks like its in time when I go by the key in the crank, and the marks on the cam sprockets. So I think I'm good.

On a side note when I took the valve cover off everything looked really good for an engine that has been sitting for a while.

Also guys who have 3's who do you get your oil filter off, it looks like its gonna be hard.

I figured it out, everything has to be 12 o'clock. Go by the key in the crank not the mark on the pulley.

For anyone doing the timing belt on these you better have a vise to compress the timing belt tensioner or it is impossible to get the the it back on.

Did yours break?

If the tensioner broke you probably needed a new one anyway.

Well the engine is in the car now, I'll have pics later this week. I'm still waiting on the ECU and the passenger side mount.

Wiring is 99% done I have 5 or 6 wires that either have the exact same colors on the other side of the harness or don't match up to a wire. I'll have pics of those if someone can help out with em.
