smile.gif hey guys i have just joined the forum today and have been an advate fan of the 6 gen celica. I own a blk convertible celica year 97 gt model. My question is looking at the parts database on the 6gc.net they offer numorous items (1) is a burien turno (2) is a ripp supercharger and (3) now i find out you can do an engine swap to 3sgt if im correct. Either ways its gonna cost an arm and a leg which option should I pick to strech my hard earned money since alot us of 6gen owners arent doing it through a promtion nor being offered sponseredship.

OK welcome,
There was a RIPP MODS supercharger, although grapevine rumor is that it's discontinued, talk to Jen about this. This 3sgte engine swap is very well known here and if you contact Lagos, DG_performance, RJB23, Dr. Tweak, among others they will help you. If you want to go the turbo route talk to Manyy aka Pressure2, all of these guys combined have a plethra of knowedge.

It depends on the hp route you want to go with on your car.

If you want 190-200ish hp then you can go with just turbocharging your 5s-fe.

If you want 250 stock or more then go with the 3s-gte swap.

(and if you want the 190-200ish without the turbo but still want to say you have a swapped motor, go with the beams motor and be the envy of many on here biggrin.gif )

turbo you can do a better job then bruien's for less money talk tp presure2 .. best custom turbo kit done on this site....

supercharger best complet kit for price and reliablity .. call ripmod personally..

3sge swap.... if you get a front clip from a SS-III should be a plug and play job as you should have everthing u need right there...

3sgte might be the cheapest swap and is the one with the most potential (sp) ...

there a lot of other things you can do .. basically the same thing you can do with ever other inline4 out there... somepeople on this site might say other wise .. but every engine has its limits...and those limits can be broken if the week point of the engine are addressed.... but this take alot of time and money to find and solve...

so the options are up to you .. and what you truly want to do ... take your time and do your homework.... don't be scared to ask those that have done swaps/turbos/SC/N/A builds.... if one doesn't asnwer ask another.... this site is great for finding info on what you need... also look at other forums for infor on the engines and swaps and anything else you want to know. and don't let people saying its hard or you shouldn't do it.... just pick what you want to do then put your all into it... if you need any help finding info let me know.. if i can help you i will.... now i'll shut up cause i'm bored at work i'm writing to much... well good luck ..

NA = less maintence / less power
Turbo = more maintence / more power
Stock engine = stock power / but slow

I would just get a 3sge Beams motor. Its well balanced in between power and have less maintence. Plus the VVT is a really cool add. feature.

Honestly.... if you're going to do something such as a turbo or swap I'd recomend doing it yourself..... This way you know everything is and are well acquainted with the engine if and when the problem arises. If you go the 3sgte route you will most likely use a st185 clip which puts out around 220 hp if I'm correct.... The st205 puts out 251, but it is almost twice as expensive, and an overall harder swap..... If you go with the st185, talk to DG_Performance because he does the wiring to simplify things.
