Recently under certain circumstances my car has been experiencing some jerky acceleration.
for intance, if I am in 4th gear at 35mph and I accelerate at a moderate pace the car will jerk in its acceleration. Normally I would be able to shift into 4th at 35 and there would be no problem, this happens in all gears except 1st. I'm no mechanic, but does this sound like my transmission is going out? the cars got 182k miles, and as far as I know it has had no transmission work done to it, and I have never changed the clutch (owned it since 113K miles) Any help is appreciated, thanks --------------------

I would replace the fuel filter first. Does the car sputter than just take off?

sounds like a fuel problem or a misfire. Could be bad wires. Another possibility is an exhaust obstruction.

Yeah, sounds like ignition to me. Old spark plugs, probably rotor going bad. Both are very cheap fixes. Fuel components will last much longer than igntion. Take off your cap and see how corroded the terminals and rotor look.
