I'm thinking about getting racing seats off ebay like the one in this link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2x-LEATHER-...010015900QQrdZ1

or

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-JDM-CARBO...010396045QQrdZ1

(just some examples)

Alot of these seats from ebay say they include "Universal Sliders".

I'm just wondering for those of you that bought seats like these off ebay, how "universal" are these sliders? Seems like people who bought racing seats have a lot of trouble mounting them in our cars and have to buy custom ones.

Need some advice, before I waste my money.

Thanks! biggrin.gif

sliders is just the sliding aspec, its the actually base thats hard 2 get. I say if your gonna get new seats, spend the extra money and get some that will bolt in easily and are DOT approved. I was gonna buy a set of APC seats at one point, but found out that they werent DOT approved and i would have 2 modify the brackets. Like go with a set of Sparcos or momo seats, you can pickem up for cheap. I got my seats for $750 each, and about another $200 for the brackets, sliders and adapters and mounting hardwear. Like its around $1700 give or take im spending on the seats, but in the end its gonna b better. Plus if you modify ur brackets/some one else does and u get into an accident, ur insurance company could/most likely will drop ur claim on the spot, aswell as the person who did the modification could be sued.

I got my seats off ebay. Universal sliders do not fit the car. You got to cut your stock sliders and weld them on to the universal sliders using flat bar. Read my old seat post.

Universal sliders are just the intermediary sliding part between the seat and the mounting bracket. You'll need to get a custom bracket for your car. I bought my racing seats, and paid and extra for a pair of custom brackets that they (the company) sent me (beware: it usually takes quite a while to get them)

chanh i got the ebay cf leather style basically the universal slider is just a flat slider....you need to tourch the stock seat tabs off the stock sliders
then weld them to the universal sliders should take about 1 hour per side max

Ebay items are never really that great. If your gonna spend a bunch of money on seats or items than E-bay should be avoided at all costs. The sellers will only rip u off and even worst sell you u stuff that doesn't work.

hi my mates got some for his honda, yeah make sure they pass all the tests CE and DOT approved. I was looking for these but they seem very cheap compered to any uk seat so i was wondering if there was a catch or they r poorly made.
Just keep your eye out for celica sliders.

ps i dont think id like to be in a crash in a universal slider inless its properly bolted on.
Also ive seem someone on here put 7gen seats in there 6gen looked nice.

i wouldnt go that far... ive bought a ton of items for my cars over the years, and i have yet to get ripped of or been sold a deficient item. You just have to make sure you research that item carefully enough to know what exactly your buying. now those idiots who just go in and buy something that looks cool, those are the ones who get ripped off.

but ive seen websites selling seats that are the same price as the ebay ones, but they have an established manufacterer and what not. Id say if your wanting to go cheap on the seats (cuz 1700 dollars is crazy) then try to look around online... just my 2 cents after buying some seats for my truck.
