"Recently i went to Newark airport, there was a Hess gas station going northboung before arriving at the gas station. I got gas there and they made a gigantic mistake....

The nozzle didnt stop pumping after my tank was full. so the gas came out everywhere, the floor, on the car, on the tire, my shoes.... so I am wondering what damage could have it done to the car, like pumped too much gas into the tank, damage to the paint job, or make the tire deterioate faster....

Also there was no way to know how much gas exactly spilled.... I had about 1/2 tank and drove 182 miles since last fill up... i am estimating i had at least 6-7 gallons left... and that would be like 5 gallons spilling out.

so i am wondering what kinds things i can do to have them compensate for it financially, or if there was damage resulting from the spill. Can i get them to pay to fix it... for example if the paint start to fall apart..

should I notify my insurance company?would they increase the premium if they had to deal with it?

so I need any advice i can get... thanks guys" -from VVTI.net

Seriously, I can care less that he/she was in New Jersey and they are not suppose to pump the gas themselves. If your that stupid you shouldnt even have a license.

Just like the dumb person that sued McDonalds because she spilled her hot coffee on herself.

Is that really true? Wow so that means you have to tip the gas attendant to pump your gas? Do they really enforce that?

In New Zealand we sometimes have gas stations with pre pay so you have to pay for your gas before you put it in your car it's frustrating

All gas stations around Washington I believe are all prepay. I don't mind, because I use the debit card for gas, so its all at the pump. To be honest I think prepay is a good thing, I wouldn't want a bunch of people filling up and then leave w/o paying..

Every time i'm in Oregon I get out to pump my gas and the attendant screams at me that its their job. I think it is just a way to lower unemployment rates.

Yeah it is law, you live there you should know. It was enacted in 1949.

I can get more that was page 1.

And Oregon is the ONLY other state which has the same law.

I find that to be the best part of the "story." So lets see, she spilt 5 gallons of gas, at $3 a gallon, thats $15, she gets home, washes her car, thats $1.17 worth of water used. Ok so thats a total of $16.17, does any1 wanna start a charity to help this poor poor person get back on the track to living a successful life? I will personally donate $3 lol

i hate people who create a lawsuit about something that was their own fault! and yeah, i heard that McDonald story too.. i work part time for McDonalds to pay off my student loans and that story gets passed around like crazy!.. and i'm in Winnipeg too.

anyway there was another local case here where a janitor was mopping the floor in a school and had a "Wet Floor" sign posted (during after school hours). some teacher was carrying a box of stuff on his way out and slipped and fell down 4-5 steps down the stairs. he hurt his back but was still able to walk around freely. he was going over-board when he said he "cracked his spine" or some $*!t like that.. then he claims it was the janitors fault saying that the floors were "too wet" but all the janitor did was do his job. 'man.. what do you expect after mopping the floor? obviously it'll be wet!' anyway he sued the school division and got $10,000. personally, if i slipped down 4-5 steps i'd take full responsability for it.. i mean, why would someone blame others for their negligence.. stupid people like that make me sick!! AAHHHHH!!!! mad.gif mad.gif

And how would you like to be in court, and on TV, sueing the school because you fell down some stairs. It makes you look like a F***in idiot and a prick.

What you do is, get up, brush it off, and walk away.

umm not all are prepay! most are prepay after dark but there are still quite a bit you can pump first then pay!

oh and Oregon has people pump their gas as well - ive asked to pump my own down there before and they have.

Umm how did the pump not shut off automatically? ive never had a gas pump do that. It always automatically shuts off right when its near the top. hmm must have been a faulty pump
