My new computer is up and running
New PC: CASE: Thermaltake Shark MOBO: Asus A8N-E ( CPU: AMD Athalon 64 4200 x2 (2.2ghz AI-NOS to 2.4ghz) VGA: BFG Tech GeForce 7800 GT OC RAM: Corsair XMS 1 Gig x2 DDR400 3200 (2 gigs total) HD: Westurn Digital SATA 120 gig SOUND: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 24 bit audio SPEAKERS: Logitech X-530 5.1 KVM: Sylvania 19" monitor, Logitech MX Cordless Dueo PS: Ultra XConnect 500 watt ATX OS: Windows XP Pro x64 Edition (water cooled system in the works to OC cpu, vga, and chipset) Old PC: CASE: Thermaltake Tsunami Dream MOBO: Albatron VIA KX600 CPU: AMD Athalon XP 2700 (2.2ghz) VGA: BFG Tech GeForce 5700 LE OC RAM: Kingston 512 x2 DDR400 3200 (1 gig total) HD: Westurn Digital 160 gig IDE (In StarTech removable HD tray) SOUND: Sound Blaster Audigy LE 16 bit audio PS: NO NAME 400 watt OS: Windows XP Pro sp2/Windows Vista Beta My new pc is crazy, I cant seem to slow it down (Mainly due to the duel core) but I can max out HL2 Lost Coast graphics at 1600x1200 with no lag, cant wait to get COD 2 installed (re-sized to 1264x948 by photobucket) HL2 Lost Coast 1 HL2 Lost Coast 2 HL2 Lost Coast 3 Flatout 1 Flatout 2 Juiced 1 Call Of Duty 2 1 Call Of Duty 2 2 Call Of Duty 2 3 I'm pretty happy with XP x64 its way faster, not perfect but I have been able to find the major drivers I want, and so far I have not found to many 32 bit apps that dont run just fine on it, althogh some have problems. there is a huge improvment in closeing apps that crashed, no wait time, just cuts em off, and does not caues the os to hang, Im not thrilled with IE x64 its nothing special and does not support all that x32 does (both are included.) It actualy had a very odd network problem, it at first would find the network (show a connectino) but not be able to comunicate (all latest drivers in router and for the onboard NIC) no matter what i did it showed conn. but would not talk, and my router would also show a link light but would not list as an attached device, ended up reseting my router to the default setup which fixed my new pc but all then other pc's lost connection (which was fine I just had to add em back into the network) I love the Duel core, XP x64 takes great advantage of it, I can install something fast wile playing a game with no problems or lag. anyway what do ya think, whats a good game that will push my system? Got something better? This post has been edited by creis: Dec 19, 2005 - 3:24 AM -------------------- |

QUOTE how much did you end up spending on everything? I ended up just getting the video card bestbuy for like $400 something with a game I picked Call of Duty 2 (great game) the 7800 is about as good as they get, and BFG tech is great if you want to OC your stuff. the rest of it I got on newegg for around 1k sept the ps that I got using my store discount at computerstop, it was about $80. so it was about $1480 (got the OS for free ) QUOTE ati 9800 pro 128meg card hardly a year ago that card was the best thing you could buy, its still a pretty good card. QUOTE I so need to build my own computer, i just dont have the brains Its not hard at all, people always think it takes a lot of knowlage to build a computer but its easy. just pick a one thing you want, like pick the cpu you want, or the vga you want, and start finding compatable parts. QUOTE win xp64 edition?? well I have not really gotten into it, but so far is much faster, very few problem, sometimes a game will crash at odd points but rarely and it never takes windows down with it, always recoverable and very fast at ending tasks. it loads up almost instantly after logon and you can start doing stuff in windows before its done loading up secondary programs (dont know if its suppose to be like that or if it just kinda works that way) its also pretty good at recignizing 32 bit programs and running them accordingly, has 2 "program files" directories, the normal one and one for 32 bit stuff. witch is nice to keep em separate. I dont know why so many people say there are no driver or they dont work because I have had no problem getting driver for my hardware/sorfware (of the things i have installed so far, and video codecs seem to install and work just fine. I highly reccomend it, just keep in mind it is win pro not home, ment for thoes who know there way around. This post has been edited by creis: Dec 3, 2005 - 1:51 AM -------------------- |

I have been playing BF2 and Special Forces, there pretty sweet, choppers are awsome. SF has a good amout of bugs in it, I think they rushed the release on it or something. however Although it says everywhere that XP x64 if not supported I have very few problems if any relating to it. and they only started to show up when i put SF on.
