No, I work for a company that's just spent 5 years creating the hardware and writing the software from scratch, along with an awful lot of standards work, and Cingular bought it.
This is 5 years of my* life. You can now (theoretically) get 11Mbits a second to your mobile phone. In reality, right now, you might see 1Mbits a second to a laptop card. For me, it's a big deal. Oh, and 2 cell phones? I had 5 at the last count, and regularly carry 3. *well, my life and about 1000 of my close friends This post has been edited by Mr_E: Dec 7, 2005 - 12:48 PM -------------------- JDM ST205

lol I have 2 phones my verizon cell and my nextel work cell. I never max out on min with either.
very cool man, cingular bought it, must mean that its a pretty good system, wile I cant see a cell phone getting 11 mb/s yet alone 1, due to range and the lack of network stability with the connection between the tower and phone (massive file corruption if you keep losing and gaining singnal,) but if you found a way, very cool. also be careful, remember that movie Anti-Trust and what happen to them? -------------------- |

Seriously. 1Mb reliably right now. 2+Mb coming on stream with updated handsets. TCP/RLC take care of retransmissions if stuff gets corrupted, but clever encoding/scheduling dependant on radio conditions. Cingular coverage should have improved recently with the AT&T merger. -------------------- JDM ST205
