alright: Looking to shut up my antena motor for good I figured an easy way would be to cut the wire from the back of my radio in the dash. So i took my wiring diagram and cut the really skinny black/red wire, labeled in my diagram as "Antenna Trigger". I turned the car on and of course i can still hear the damn antena motor humming as if my stock antena was still there. I've decided to get into the trunk and sever the connection there, but for now, I'd like to know what the hell i just cut, and if i should be worried about re-connecting it.

thanks,
Shawn

Lol. I'm not sure, can you still tune stations? I can't remember what color the antenna wire itself is, but yeah a good solution is just to unplug the power from the antenna itself and that way you can plug it in if you ever want the power antenna again.

I unplugged the power from my antenna keeping it down then spliced a 14 gauge wire to the antenna signal and ran it into the headliner of the car, I get a crystal signal and don't have that stupid antenna up all the time.

Why didn't you just unplug the connector at the antenna motor? It is fast and easy, and more importantly reversable.

Now your dealing with a cut wire that can be hot. So you have to worry about an electrical fire, or shorting out your car.

the B-R (black and red) wire is labelled with ANT in my diagrams... but there should be a second wire going to the antenna relay from the radio... P-L (pink and blue) also labelled AMP!?

as far as i remember (years ago) i had to split the trigger wire from my aftermarket radio in two wires to get the automatic antenna to work properly!

yeah, the red/black was right in line with the pink/blue. I left the pink/blue alone though. just the red/black was cut, everything else still works.

toyotas have 2 antenna wires to make it work so there could be more than one in your car
