I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

Hello,
just read your post about the modifications planned to your gt-four. Good luck with your project.
Can you please find the time and describe which Superflex Polyuratan Bush Kit did you get exactly. Part # would help a lot. I am very interested in buying poly bushings for my car and since you already got all the numbers sorted I thought you could give me and other guys here some help.

Thank your help.
Jenya

ATS TD06 Kit

For what its worth Joerg, that turbo is too small for your goals. I would recommend the GT35R. You will still be able to break ground at will in 1st or 2nd gear and you will get the top end you seek.

We need t arrange to meet as soon as you are finished. We need to put all GT4s next to each other for a group photo or something. When are you planning on finishing.

@jgreening

Yes i know frown.gif But i bought this kit a few month ago, before i knew that i would have to rebuild my engine.

I think the best way to get it on now, is to get the TD06 in and search for a bigger turbo which i might be able to find until autumn 2006.

I need to finish my project now. As i am blocking a friends garage for 2 month allready.

Otherwise if i would be able to find a setup with a bigger turbo i would do it straight away. Still got around 8 weeks of time until my engine is rebuilt.

Any suggestions for a quickspooling turbo which doesn't start to spool up much past the stock one but will give me 500-600 hp??? wink.gif

cheers Joerg

wow. wow.. wow.... you can go higher horse power then me with this set up. so many details on your car. good work. what size of exhoust are you planning to go with? . Don't forget that most important thing is program. and high horse power is at higher rpms. my turbo can give max boost arround 4300 rpm and can give 680 bhp, go for gt35r. wink.gif

nice to see you too neoklis...
today my cusco twinplate clucht kit arrives. if we place engine tomorrow. we need an other 10 more days for custom made manifold. end of this month car will be ready. i cant wait to have a meet together.

@Tufy

Thank you mate. i am thinking about getting either a
GT3076R (350-500 bhp)
GT3040R Garrett GT3040R is the same turbo as the GT3076R but with the larger compressor side from the GT35R (350-600bhp)
GT3582 (400-600)

BHP numbers are taken from here: turbolist

On this site it says 660 bhp are possible with that GT3076R ???? But how can that be????? 9 sec

Good Info here as well: ATP

There are so many turbos out there frown.gif and i fell a bit lost....

@uzthedentist I have the Pace Rad here allready frown.gif looks good but was expensive and had some issues in the fabrication. Hope it will fit!

That's it!...I'm moving to Cyprus. The difference between the celicas there and the ones here is as big as the difference between the celicas here and everything else...if that makes sense to anyone.

Very nice car tufy. Let me know if you ever decide to sell. smile.gif

OK Tufy
is this your turbo?: GT 35R with 1,06 A/R
where did you get the turbo from and how much did it cost?
Why did you choose the 1,06 A/R?
There are 3 different A/R to choose of. Sooo confusing? I am such a newbee

I was recommended the GT 35 with A/R 0,67

1.06 A/R is the biggest model of Gt 35R thats why i ordered this. here cyprus prices are so high. a friend of mine imported it for me from USA coasted to me 920 cyp which is arround 2200 usdollars. my apexi gt spec. exoust is 2.75'' too. why pay money for only 0.25'' more. i ll go with an exoust piping bigger then 3'' may be 3.5''

The turbo it is a decision that must decided from the drive smile.gif smile.gif This is what i think...drivers maybe thinking for the a 0-400 or circuit,it depends.
500whp or 600whp engine needs also a 500whp or 600whp transmission keep that in mind smile.gif Also tunning it is very important for the car life especially if you running so much power under the hood.

snakeloa dont rush your self on finding a turbo or built your engine...smile.gif follow Tufy's steps..he is planning his project for almost an year now smile.gif

@ Tufy

Where do you get the Downpipe from? Is it a screamer or a recirc type? If it is a recirc one I need one as well. Maybe you can get a 2. one for me or a small groupbuy???
Which Wastegate do you go for?
Have you sorted oil and waterlines out allready?

Thank you... I do not rush at all wink.gif My car was out to be driven 20 days the last 2 years. The time in between i spent on tuning smile.gif @ the moment my car is in the garage of my mechanic (it is there since NOVEMBER!!! and i won't be finished until end of march!!!)

I am only rushing a bit on the turbo now wink.gif As my plans had changed because of the whole rebuild.

I am pretty sure that the GT 35R is the best solution for me. (interesting as well would have been the GT 3076R)

I was recommended this one a few times here and by my cylinder head porter....

I only need to know which of the A/R 0,63 0,82 or 1,06 will bring me best results? How are the different A/R of the turbine side will affect my car (lag, spool up...)???

cheers Joerg

i will go with custom manifold and downpipe. still waiting to place engine on car to start manifold ( as soon as my clucth comes). externalwastegate is not so much important like turbo. i didnt buyed it yet but i ll buy probably 44mm or 50mm tial wastegate.

Wastegates are weird, man. My friend on his 1.8l Mazda engine, is running 10.2 at 137 with a 46mm Tial. Then, some dude in a 1.8l Kia Sephia 4-door is pushing 522 FWHP and his using a...drum roll...Turbonetics Deltagate. Yeah, a 35mm wastegate, heh. Crazy, huh? tongue.gif I'm gonna get a 100mm mortar head wastegate.

Looks like the build is progressing well. However, one of two little things concern me. You say you are after 500whp - just wondering if you are really expecting that amount. I honestly would be surprised if your engine will last with that sort of power thrown at it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to put your efforts down, just that I know what it's like to put a lot of time, effort and $ into an engine rebuild.
For starters, 9.0:1 CR, even with a thicker HG is potentially asking for major problems at higher boost levels. Water / methanol injection would certainly help stave off any potential detonation, but given the boost level which would be required to see 500whp, I doubt that it would cope.
Also, with such a large turbo, it would be extremely laggy on the road - unless I've missed the point and it's going to be a drag car wink.gif Max boost at 4300rpm isn't something I could live with every day.
272 deg cams are pretty wild. Good luck with getting it to idle wink.gif
Also, are you fitting an oil cooler? The stock item will not cope with 500whp full stop - especially in a climate like yours. I'm looking at around 320whp and even for that I'm going to be fitting one. AS for rad, as uzthedentist says, the Pace unit is nowhere near as good as the Koyo one. And Koyo is cheaper.
Good luck with the build, but remember that even a custom built motor has its limits and you really need to think carefully about what you are doing if you want it to last smile.gif
Cheers
Gary

Ä° Have 0.5 MM oversize pistons that will reduce CR a little. i am using 1.2 head hks gasget. didn't measured CR yet. you are right about detonation, the imporant think is tunning. with higher CR you can go same hp numbers with lower boost wink.gif
we are planning to make fine adjustments with adj. cam gears and fix idle proplem.
if you want big power you should look for it at higher rpms.

doubt it.

full boost at 4300rpms and turbo lag = good daily driver gas mileage. theres a few guys running gt35s and gt30s on 2zz-gtes and making 400+ FWHP, and no oil cooler im sure he will be fine, the 2zz puts out way more heat in lift than the 3s could ever think of.

Yeah, and that's about it. What the heck happen to all them pretty parts you had on it? It even looks like it's got oil all over it. Was there an accident or something? hp is all that matters anyway, and I'm sure this thing will have it's fair share of it.

I'm surpised that you haven't renewed the heat sleeve on the oil cooler water line. Given its close proximity to the turbo, it is at risk from being damaged by radiant heat. You wouldn't want that pipe to split etc kindasad.gif

I used some new heat reflective sleeving on mine to ensure it will last...

I would get such a chuckle if the 7a makes more than the 3sgte.

i dont want to talk about money biggrin.gif it's TOO MUCH
many many small details that cannot be seen makes so much money.
As topic title my target is 500 hp on wheels ( arround 600 on f.wheel). my enginner is expecting more. if we dont break gearbox.
i will change radiator hose next week with blue slicone hose.
as you can see i have shorten the wire that goes to throtle.( no more going on manifold )
