Some of you may have read my thread about my Engine Start Button that I installed. Well apparently I wasn't thinking clearly when I wired the switch and button from the ignition harness because I only used 18 gauge wire while the 12v constant wire and the ignition wire are 10 gauge. So I'm driving down my street and i noticed a burning smell, then smoke, then LOTS of smoke, then MORE smoke! It was horrible! I ripped off the shift knob/boot/plastic and disconnected the switch, then I ripped all the wires from the wiring harness. Thankfully I disconnected everything before a fire could actually start. I was trying so hard to save my car from burning that I didn't realize one of the wires had burnt my finger pretty badly...

QUOTE(x_itchy_b_x @ Dec 22, 2005 - 4:13 PM) HEY south winsdor or w/e do u go to the burlin tunnel at all I think you mean Berlin Turnpike. If that is what you mean, no, I just got the Celica like 3 weeks ago and it's still very stock. I haven't been to the pike since I was like 16 or 17. Cops put a stop to all the stuff that used to go on down there. -------------------- |

funny story similar happened to me, except my 18 guage wires got caught in the hand brake and were melting because the fuse in there was a 40 amp from and 8guage cable to a distribution block. My car smelled like plastic for weeks and then febreeze for a month. Next time just pull the battery terminal off.
