okay, im getting a st205 clip soon, I know it comes 255hp but 255hp seems so common these days in stock cars, what are the mods starting from greatest hp gains to least that I can do to increase the engine to 320hp?

um, a boost controller. geez man, have you ever even driven a 320 HP car? the st205 car stock will be fast as s**t... why don't you get over the immense hassle of actually swapping it in, before you plan your mods. swapping a 205 is a tough tough job. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

Err... yea... That's a really big thing to ask, for someone to tell you. Even for an enthusiast form such as this. I think what West Minist is trying to say is that if you want to learn how to get the 3sgte up to 320 horse, then you should do the research yourself. You will understand things better, and learn much more than anyone here would teach you.

I think you guys are being a bit harsh. This is a place for learning, is it not? To share ideas and knowledge? He's obviously not a 16-18 yr old, and even if he was, why would that matter? You were all n00bs at one point in time, knowing nothing. Even if you did take the time to figure it out all by yourself, how about then sharing that info? Just saying that maybe ya'll being a tad bit harsh.

Hey, thanks for patronizing me. I am already familiar with what can be done, ei fmic, fuel injectors, ecu, fuel pumps, underdrive pulley, custom headers blah blah.... and so forth www.alltrac.net baby. But since I have never worked on a 3sgte i wanted to know from people with exp what is the easiest.
Also, if you not going help, then dont bother replying, and if your mad, then go beat up someone with a honda. This post has been edited by coustoe: May 18, 2003 - 7:00 PM |

Honda are crap. We beat them up everyday here with 4AGE 20v.
So it is not a big thing. it is just how you have worded your question. You really look like easy prey for bad information. It is not to beat you up. ... |

West instead of starting a bitch fight, why don't you just list a few mods and their expected horse power gains for him? Instead of turning the thread into a circus. In fact - I don't know what you guys are so worked up about, any person who is getting their new turbo engine would be thinking "How long before I can turn up the boost." well the easiest way to 320 HP would be a turbo upgrade. get a TD0SH kit from greddy, a good turbo timer, and a boost controller. that kit doesn't require that you upgrade any internals, which is good. that's what i'm probably going to do on the gt4. wait wait, i thought that was an st185 engine for a sec. ummm. well, upgrades for the st205 are going to be hard to find, and very very expensive. i think if you got a good boost controller, AFC, intake, and exhaust, you'd be good to 320 on the stock turbo and IC. Simple...up the boost a lil bit....do alot of baseline mods...should get you to hit 320 easy.
-Nate (3S-GTE's are known to hit above the 700HP mark...but all toyota engines are competent so bleh haha) |

Ok. Looking good
Let me say that the turbo for the ST205 is not very efficient over 300hp. It will get you there, but expect to see an increase in temperature at the turbo compressor or hold air system as the turbo speed increase. At this point, you will be drastically decreasing the life of the turbo. To really see what I am talking about, check out turbo magazine march. april issues. I think the ST205 have 245-255hp @ Flywheel leaving around 190+- at the wheels. 3S-GTE DOHC 4/50 95-98 1998 255@6000 225@4000 86 86 (Celica GT-4 Japan) 3S-GTE DOHC 4/50 98 1998 260@6000 239@4400 86 86 (Caldina GT-T Japan) Basic mods of filter and exhaust can take you up to 260+ and in some instances, up to 280HP with a small increase of boost (>=2+ psi) and fuel. In turbo applications, you need high flow. Therefore, you would be looking at a high flow filter like th HKS MegaFlow Filter and a high flow 3" custom exhaust system with a Veilside/HKS Titanium exhaust After that, you are looking at boost to carry you over the 300 mark. You can run upto 20+psi boost to get you over the 320 mark, which is not the best think. I have only research HKS as there are were installed and used in alot of JD cars. If you are really serious in HP up to 450HP, I would advice you to get the HKS GT3037S. If not, a HKS GT2835Pro would do. http://www.hksusa.com/categories/more.asp?id=1092 After 300hp, I would advice you to get a aftermarket computer or (a Apexi SAFC & AVC), 550+cc injectors, Ignition controller and other stuff to get a constant 320+ @ the wheels (hope you have good rubber rated 1,2,3 @ tirerack for USA to look at). I hope this helps. More can be had, but cost more money to go higher. Oh, don't forget to upgrade your clutch. No - not the dirt shroom!! Stay far away from that filter, every test its been in showed that it allows the most dirt through. Go Apexi or K&N. The ct20b that comes on the ST205 has put down over 300HP to the wheels on a couple of MR2's. It's a good little turbo, but if something happens to it your screwed. Try to find a place to rebuild a ct20b in the states. I sold mine on day 1 and bought a Greddy 20G kit. The ST205 has 540 cc injectors that are better then the Supra's 550's. 4 jets versus 2 for better atomization. While your doing the swap, ditch all the banjo bolts on the fuel line an replace them with AN fittings. That will greatly increase the fuel flow in the system and it'll only cost around $50. The ECU can handle a 350 HP engine without problems. Add a S-AFC for better control, but its really not needed. -------------------- Scott
