UK spec OEM fog light switch/button, Installed on USDM (LHS) Pics! Options

ok I'm tired of looking for info about it. But, I did find one person confirming toyota did install it on the left air vent area of the driver side. Just to ask again, Is the OEM fog light switch/button location on the left air vent area of the driver side left air vent? My car alarm light is located in that indented circle where I think the button/switch is at... I think.... if exists. Is it a button? Was it offered on US celicas? Man I dont think I am making sense... sleepy time.

ohhh dang it, if someone has I a pic that will just shut me up.

it is a rear fog button. USDM cars do not have them, only the overseas cars do.

yupp, the usdm cars do have the shape for you to cut it out and put a switch there. What I did was just get an OEM fog switch for toyota and popped out the vertical rectangular panel on the left side of the steering wheel.

yeah thats what I did as well. But when I heard that this OEM button existed (at least for over sea celicas) I got exicted and thought toyota SHOULD have made one for the USDM. However, I was unaware that it operated the rear fogs for UK celicas. Which makes sense because my friend from the UK was telling me when he exports his 05 Mustang to the UK, he will have to install rear fogs. THey have real dense fog and often, so they have more need for that. I thought it operated the front fogs.

96-99 --> 84165-20060

these are for LHD, the RHD switch is a different (fits in the RHD vent the opposite from LHD)

I do not know why they were different for the early years, I would assume they are basicly the same and will do the same job.

Snap, if you really want one, just get it from a Toyota dealership or try looking on ebay.uk

also, the 96+ Celicas have the fog light switch on the directional (blinker) stalk along with the parking & headlight switch. You could just get one of those (part # 84140-20560)

Hi everyone. Yes, I finally got around to installing my OEM fog light switch (or button should
I say) that I bought from the UK. As everyone knows they usually use this particular button for
their rear fog light. Yes, over ther they require cars to have rear fog light just because it
foggy 90% of the time over there.

Anywho, It was A LOT easier install than I thought it would be. The wiring was a bit tricky, just because
the wire colors did not follow any U.S. coloring logic... so I just connected different wires until
the button worked. I had the drilling hole part planned/down but I was worried on how I was going
to mount it behind the vent section. The RHS drive setion that it came with had the built-in platic
tab/brackets... I thiught surely Toyota would not have those plastc brackets on my LHS drive vent...
WELL IT DID!!!!!!!!! I was sooooo happy/relieved/exicted when I saw that. Like I always have said,
Toyota thinks of everything. Pretty much "plug and play" after the hole was cut.

I was very pleased with the results. It gives the interior something extra and a cleaner stock look that
I always strive for. One thing I did not like was that the white vent "flow on/off" symbols are alittle worn
I will repaint those next. I may go all out and reproduce a stensel to repaint...

Well this is how I have it so far. And nothin has caught on fire... and my lights dont flicker with this combo
I had three wires on my aftermarket harness: Black, Red, White.

This is the combo.
Black - green
Red - red/orange
White - red/green
illumination(splise in to any existing illumination wire you choose: raio, parking lights, etc) - white/green

No, I think the 94 did not have the option for foglights... hence ther was no switch/anywhere (correct me if I'm wrong anyone). So before I had to install/cut a hole for a after market switch once I got a hold of some fogs. THis hole was located below the steering wheel LHS, near the fuse panel... in the "neighborhood" of the hood latch. You will see like a little rectangular panel, where something should go.

So, no, I do/did not have two switches.

I think 96 on that turn signal arm switch feature was added. (Again, correct me if I'm wrong anyone).

Yes those differences between USDM and EDM (European Domestic Market ) versions are confusing... I can remember how I was shocked USDM celicas don't have rear fog light (normal for me) .

However: there is one more thing to think about . EDM celicas has "rear-foglight-indicator" on dashboard (when button is activated, indicator light on) located here:

Do you have that in USDM celicas also? Will that indicator be operating also for you?

This is sweet - I was going to get another hazard light switch and use it to wire push button start. Now all I have to do is figure out some way to get one of these, remove the paint showing the light and then the fun part begins - wiring that up. UTSlickVic - where did you get your switch and how much $?

WOW! great post malpaso! I was wondering where those rear fogs would be located. I'm not sure if USDM has the rear fog indicator. I have never taken apart my guage cluster. I'm sure someone will post a response to your inquiry. I would sure like to know This keeps getting better and better. I could look in my chilton's manuel to see if it has anything.

If it does, I will diffinatly attempt to get it to work...

thats great information i had no idea they're was so much to it.. i wouldnt mind having them lol australian celica's dont have them. but they're no good for the jdm tails hehehe i like the blue light switch though!!
