trunk/hatch release...check the cables on the back panel of the car, under the black plastic cover...see if they are all intact and fastened right...otherwise, there is a problem somewhere in the cable itself, it may be up by the lever that you pull...check those 2 places and make sure everything is secure.

check to see if your trunk lock cylinder is in the horizontal position like this (-)
If it is, then it's in the valet position, which disables the trunk release level. Use the key and turn the lock clockwise back to the vertical position (|) and that'll re-enable the release level. |

***well first of all, see if you can open your trunk with key, if you can that means that cables are fine, but if you cannot, then take the plastic cover off w/ 4 plastic screws, make sure that the cables are hooked up (they tend to come out at turns of 50 mph - mine did couple times) *** If you can open with the key, that means that lock hook is busted, the locking mechanism and lock-hook are one piece so in order to replace it you are going to need new locking mechanism with a special order from Toyota Dealer for your apropriate key.... Hardware $70 +tax Labor 1 hour (usually $60/hour) any certified toyota dealer ***expect delay of about 7 days..... you can save couple $ and install it yourself...any info let me know.... |
