does everyone have this stupid hump from the spare tire in their trunk? I notice in some members' cars its totally flat, does that mean they took out the spare... I'm tryin to put subs in the trunk and keep the spare so do i really have to work around this hump

Mine has it.
but omg don't complain to an ST205 owner a bout boot space. Mine is even higher, because of the AWD running gear pushing the fuel tank back, which in turn pushes the spare tyre even further up.... my boot floor is at least a good few inches higher than yours, judging by your pics. -------------------- www.tangcla.com - photography

5th gen rear and 6th gen rear are different
the spare well is sunk into the trunk floor so that the top of the spare is even with the floor |

yah thats deffinetly a 5th gen rear. since i have had both models i notice that the 6th gen are alot akward then the 5th gen. ive got 2x12" subs in my 5th gen with ease, and thats with the hump in the back. the 6th gens bump bluge out more and its not really centered with the car so it be akward putting a system there with the hump....

sometimes, you might not have a "true" spare...it could be a normal wheel back there?...i have a normal wheel in the rear...but i have built a platform to counter the bump

like tangcla said, the st205 (GT-Four) has much less space than the st204/at200 (GT/ST)
the GT and ST have a flat trunk like the pic posted here ![]() and the GT-Four has the fuel tank and rear diff under htere which pushes the spare up about 4-5 inches ![]() -------------------- |

mine is flat, but my spare is pretty thin, never heard of that spare tire hump in the truck, makes sence with the gt-4 but cant see why a fwd would need it? kash1355 could you post a pic of it with the carpet out and the spare off to the side.

dont worry buddy, i am in the same situation as yourself except my spare is on the left side of my truck, but i have a huge hump as well, and its making it very frustrating to design a sub box thats gonna fit nicely.

I would love a full sized spare over my little spare. I've used it only once, but you have to be really careful of a little spare. I don't mind the lack of trunk space. I bet gt-4s don't have any space back there. I know what mine would be like with a full size spare and the brace bar. Looks like you guys might just have to get rid of those subs.

I have the exact same problem (full sized spare) leaving a nasty hump on the boot floor.
What this means is my sub box does not stand upright (as the tyre prevents it from sitting flush) so it is lying on its back in the boot (at an akward angle)... the result being the sub faces straight into the parcel tray (about 3 inches away) and LOT's of tray rattle! ![]() I believe that 96 onward Celica's contained a space saver tyre so that that the spare tyre was sitting flush with the boot floor. -------------------- ![]() |
