im lookin to put the 3sgte engine in my car..but it does come w/an awd tranny..i was talkin to the guy at the local motorsports place around here..and he said he could convert the awd tranny to fwd bc it'd prolly be alot cheaper for me to do instead of converting the whole car to awd..what are your thoughts on this? can this really be done and should i go for it??

okay, the awd to fwd can and has been done, but you lose half the HP... so its pointless... the best thing to do is go with the mr2 turbo motor/tranny... mounting the mr2 is defenatly allot easier than awd to fwd and the mr2 tranny makes one of the strongest FWD trannies ever...

theres a post on it. The awd tranny is pretty much the same as the e153 mr2 turbo tranny. The only differences is the open differential in the awd version. Taking out the diff in the awd and replacing it with a diff in the mr2 turbo tranny will run you around 200 at a toyota dealership. I forget what other steps have to be made?

So i guess From what u are saying is that you want to run the awd system on your 6gc? Well you better have a whole lot of money to do that. I is not easy to convert a FWD to an AWD. You will need to cut some parts off from underneath your car and you have to get some parts off the 94-99 gt4. Correct me if im wrong.

it is definately possible and has been done, better yet ima get the lsd alltrac tranny already converted to FWD and put in my celica (done in a corrolla FX-16) and is sold to me!!! but,...........no it does not lose any power what so ever and IMO is better than mr2 tranny or stock trannies but all this is true if and only if done correctly

Umm... the alltrac tranny is basically the same thing as the MR2 T tranny... both are E15x tranies... alltrac just has a transfer case to the rear...

I should have clarified in my last post. That's a guide on how to turn the awd transmition to a fwd transmission.
