Hello I am trying to replace my cigarette lighter light that is burned out it is supposed to be green in color as it has a "green condom" on it. I would like to go blue in color so my question is

-This bulb is designed very odly it does not slide into the holder it is sodered to 2 metal posts that slide into the holder. So is there a replacement that is the same or should I buy a standard #74 bulb and glue it in and run the wires to hook it up? I think that would work correct???

-My other problem is that I don't know where I can buy a little blue condom for these #74 bulbs so they won't be green anymore?

-Or do you guys just by little blue Leds without a condom? Thanks.....

-Oh I'll be doing this on my ignition light and cigarette lighter......

I have done this with LEDs (ignition ring/cc unit/gauges/window switch...)

try to use LEDs, they'll come out brighter/better "true blue" than those plastic covers...trust me, tried way to many ways to make it look good wink.gif

You have four choices:

- spray some color at that bulb
- use high illumination LED. There are two problems. First, you need to use resistor with LED, but there is no much place for this, second these LEDs are not "difusional", so it's difficult to do that...
- use LED with build in resistor. These LEDs are not high illumination -> weak light
- use another color of that "condom", but... Color with this rubber nonsences is horrible ("blue" is light-grey-blue and "red" rubber is more pink than red...)

good luck with your choice wink.gif

Anyone know the generic bulb code or the toyota part number for the cig. lighter bulb? I am also trying to identify the codes for the money/ash tray bulb (the tray next to the handbrake, not the one under the aircon) and the boot (hatch) interior light.

Well, that's my first post. I'll be posting further bloody stupid questions from time to time.
