well today was the best day in a LOOONG time (about 2 years). i got a call from my guy at the shop and he said the swap was done. OH JOY.

i picked it up and went driving around for a few hours...not really beating on it too bad, but i was giving it some gas a few times. wow this thing is awesome. its tough to find the gears sometimes (i need to re-do my mr2 tranny shifter conversion). and i need to grind down the passenger side engine mount cuz its resting on the timing gear cover.

so now here's the first inevitable problem...i was on my way home on a country road and stepped on it a little, and it died. at first i thought it just stalled so i tried to start it back up, and it died again. i pull over and started it and it idled ok, but if i even touched the gas a little, it died.

i called the shop and he said it sounded like my fuel pump went out. does that sound right to you guys? i was expecting this to happen cuz i was using my 7afe fuel pump (i know, BAD idea). so now's my chance to get a new one.

If the car started up and idled fine I dont think you blew your motor.

Replace that fuel pump asap or you will blow it, it was unwise of not only you but the mechanic to not upgrade the pump.

im going tomorrow morning to talk to him. i doubt he'll have a new pump in there by then, so i'll make sure he gets a bigger one.

oh, and i should post this in the other thread. but the short axle solution worked for me. get another axle and use that part as a spacer, get longer bolts, and you're set.

Hope you get it figured out. I'm curious why the mr2 clip was a mistake?

just read the thread below this one.

Alright, got it. I thought that was the motor all you guys were using. I read this:

1st Generation - 190 HP(USDM '87-'89 Celica All-Trac), 187 HP(JDM '87-'89 Celica GT-Four)
2nd Generation - 200 HP(USDM '90-'93 Celica All-Trac, USDM '91-'95 MR2 Turbo), 221 HP(JDM '90-'93 Celica GT-Four, JDM '89-'94 MR2 Turbo), 231 HP(JDM '90-'93 Celica GT-Four RC)
3rd Generation - 239 HP(Non-JDM '94-'99 Celica GT-Four), 241 HP(JDM '95-'99 MR2 Turbo), 251 HP(JDM '94-'98 Celica GT-Four)
4th Generation - 254 HP(JDM ST246 Toyota Caldina GT-Four)

Found this at the feasible swap section and thought hmm mr2 the way to go. So are most people using the
all-trac?
