I want to buy an all-in-one in dash cd/dvd player with motorized 7" screen.
How difficult is it to install these? Any help/tips are welcomed! |

Overall its pretty easy, but then you alwasy get two choises for the indash 7" LCD players.
1) Run it stock(legal) way, that will only let the screen play if your car is in not moving(in PARK). 2) Run it modified so that it works all the time (thats were you will need to get an additional unit probably costs from 20-55$, and you will need to do some wiring work) Then if you get a unit with GPS you will need to mount the antenna so that it can see the sky, the best place for it would be somewere on the dash (pretty hard to make it look good + you will have to do a lot of dash work if u want to get it mounted in the middle). Then there is another thing, its better to buy units like these new and not used, but if you do get the unit used do get all the manuals and wiring diagrams because that will help out a lot. One of my friends just bought one of them old Alpine 7" LCD screens and that thing is just a big pain in ASS, because it has a unit that needs to be mounted separate from the screen itself and there is a bunch of wires going different places (he doesn't have a manual so we don't know what to do yet). But over all its whatever you think you can do, I did a bunch of stereo installs and I can pretty much do it with my eye's closed (well that's if u tell me the wire colors). And here's one good tip for ya, do not, and I'll say it again, do not rush the install, because if you do you will forget something and it might cost you your system. Couple of things to check before pluging (-) on your battary: POWER(RED/YEllOW)/GROUNG(BLACK)/BLUE(AMP ON/ANTENNA), if you gonna run 4ch amp check that RCA are properly connected and that HU(speaker wires) are all isolated and are not touching eachother or the ground because that will screw your system really fast. Well I guess this is my .02 cent for ya -------------------- <<AKA THA RUSSIAN>>

dustin what indash do u have. i had a jenson indash for 3 days before it quit working. it stopped reading dvds. i warrentied it and got another and that one wouldnt pull the screen all the way in. i finally said screw this and man up and paid some money for the doule din. i will never go with a motorized unit again.
