I know this has been asked before but I've looked and can't seem to find it.

What body kits will fit on coupes? Is there any difference between coupes and convertibles???

Thanks for the help! biggrin.gif

I think the Convertibles have the same body styling as the Coupe, or similar. However, there are no bodykits, to my knowledge, that come ready for the Coupe body style. I think the front bumper and side skirts fit with slight modification, but I don't think the rear-bumper fits as easilly (if at all). I know Coomer has a coupe, and probably has a wealth of knowledge about the subject. You should PM him if he doesn't take a gander at this thread. Good luck in your journey for a coupe bodykit!

The h/b kits will fit except for the back - where u need some pretty major modification for it to fit, but tis been done, and looks PHAT when it is. I have the VIS invader except for the back, and fits pretty good.

Supersprynt is right about the fronts and sides fitting with little or no mods if you get a good kit. I have the shogun kit same as his just by a different manufacturer. The rear wil need alot of work I've done it on my car and it was a pain in the a**. Now if we could only get a body kit manufacturer to make a mold of my rear bumper they could offer a kit for coupes.

I like the invader kit...the back more than the front. But I wanted to know my options first. I kinda wanted the easier way out but I guess there's really not one, huh? Whats the difference b/t lips and kits...do lips fit better than kits? Will it fit better on mine?

Also what brands...Blitz, erebuni, etc....which have better fitment all around so I wouldn't have to do alot of modifications or would it even matter since I'm gonna have to modify it anyways?

Thanks for all the input...keep it coming smile.gif

The difference between the lip kits and say the invader is the linvader is a full front, as where the lip kits are just that. A lip that attactes to the front of the stock bumper. IMO the full front will probably fit better. But if your going for the more subtle look, like I did. Then the lip kit is your best bet. Now for who has the better fitting kits? That depends on each mold and how many times it was used before a new one was made. But VIS has a little better fit over erebuni. But each kit will have its fitment problems unless its a Veilside or a Japanese kit which fit a whole lot better.

so since they don't make kits to fit a coupe only in the back (cause i can use the front and sides right?) then I could just get an rear lip that i like to put on the back? or is there something different with the coupes that would make a lip not fit either? confused.gif

or would that just look completely stupid if i had 1/2 kit, 1/2 lip?

Whether you get a rear bumper, or a rear lip, the rear will not extend all the way back. Since the rear of the hatchback is a lot shorter than the rear of the coupe/convertible, the body shop just has to do something to extend it more, whether its adding fiberglass or something.

It cost me about $2,500 for the kit and install. I did all of this almost 4 years ago. The kit was $1,000 shipped. Paint was $600 for just the kit. The side skits fit fine. The front and rear bumpers had to be adjusted. The front of the bumper where the hood closes was not smooth and I could not close the hood all the way. The hood would latch into place but I could not push it all the way down. The new front bumper also did not line up with the head lights properly. In order for them to fix all the problems they ended up cutting off the top of the front bumper just under the head lights. They made a mold of my factory front bumper from under the head lights all the way to the hood. After the copy was done they graphed the two pieces together. Once they were finish it look like it came from the factory that way. The rear bumper was two inches short on each side where it was suppose to wrap around to the wheel wells. The gap where the bumper meets the factory body also did not fit (right under the licence plate). They used the same process they use on the front bumper in order to make the rear fit. The person who owned the shop and worked on my car use to build the bodies for F1 cars. They hadn't been open that long when I brought my car in to be worked on, so he gave me a good deal on all the body work. All the work they had to do on my front and rear bumpers was about $900. I was going to have the them make a mold of my rear bumper for me so if I ever need another copy of my rear bumper I would only have to find a body shop that could lay down the fiber glass. But the owner ended up selling his business and moving back to his home country before I could get him to do it. When you buy a kit the front should fit for the most part without any problems. I just wanted them to hurry so I didn't try to send it back for a new one. I'm still trying to find someone to make a mold of my rear bumper so if anyone knows a person that can do it let me know.

If you have anymore questions please let me know. If some of this does not make that much sense sorry, I was in a hurry.

Um...its the same as the h/b except for the back, and i think it looks even better on the coupes - but to each his own.

I agree. I'm not a fan of the veilside style kits but it looks its best on the 6th gen coupe. the front is sort of elongated so the added length on the rear makes it more proportional. imho of course wink.gif
