This is the 3 attemt to build the pods for the celica... Had this idea floating around long enouth till SnapshotGT came and kicked me Well - had to give it a try.. This is the center dash pod, exactly this one in pics is still a prototipe - and there are few minor issues with it - so the second one im building will have everything fixed. This one sits a bit too low, and gauges arent directed towards the driver as much as i wanted. The new one will have the Clock visibility issue fixed, and aimed more at the driver + gauges will sit a bit more higher. Looks will be the same. This one will be for 52mm gauges.
Here are few pics - let me know what you guys think about this. Its sits flush on the dash, just what in these pics i didnt wanted to glue it totaly, so i used only one strip of the double side tape.. And dont ask about the Triple A-pillar what you can see in these pics - i will write about it later once i will finish with it totaly. this one what is visible in pics was made for a client (my ex celica owner) and i will see if it will be posible to get it in prduction. That is one of the coolest things ive seen, i like that waaay better then the side pillar guages. I think once you get them the way you want them they'r going to be perfect. The one thing id worry about is how permanent are they? How do the wires get down where they need to be?

All the wires goes between center dash plastic and dash, i made the pod what way - that i will cover the top piece of the center plastic , so you can just put the wires there , cuz there is enouth room to get them in thi place + the pod cover them totaly. I will be installing this prototipe tomorow to a cliens GT4, will get pics of how everything goes, and where i put the wiring and etc. -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

i really like the concept but id like to see pics of it fully glued down, seems like it might look a little "rubbermade" since the edges stick out like a sore thumb.
cant wait to see the final product, im sure it will look great |

If these are going to be available within the next few weeks though, I've got a BIG decision to make. Go with the center mount or pillar mount for the Auto Meter Nexus Gauges I've got sitting here for Dr Tweak to put in with the new motor. -------------------- |

The pod looks great.. would the gauges end up tilted somewhat up.. to have a better view for the driver?? and are they visible outside from normal driving?? for those who want to keep theirs "sleeper"
Good Job! |

He said that they will be adjusted in his post. And theres a good chance that no matter where you put 3 guages they wont be too hidden very well unless they are down in the center part of the car. -------------------- I am now a part of the ihavemorethen16gc club! |

3rd in line. That is awsome Romas. I liked the shifter idea, but i think this is a bit more pracitcal. for mounting though, can you screw this to the dash? or is it more glueing. Also, would the gaudges need to be held in with the attachment they come with? or are they pressure fitted??

Gauges are press fited in it using some bouble tape or just snug fit Pod itself is hold in place by double side gluing take (like 3M and etc). -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...
