Hey guys-

I gound this under body brace on bulletproof...and was wondering if this was something new?

I don't know if that's new, but if it does it's job like subframe connectors do on an F-Body, it's going to make a tremendous difference in how the car feels. GOOD FIND!!

We should get a comparison of under boady brace to sway bars.

If you have not noticed, this under body brace is $150, and front/rear sway bars total the amount of $544. That said, this could be a cheaper solution to the same/about the same end.

Please, if anyone knows anything about the difference/cost effectiveness, post your thought up!

No disrespect guys, but you really do need to do some research to find the differences between sway bars and braces. They are totally different and 'do' totally different jobs.
The idea of a brace (whether it be on top or underneath) is to strengthen the chassis points etc and prevent any movement which has the potential to alter suspension geometry.
Sway bars reduce body roll. They also have a huge affect on under and oversteer. Too small can cause understeer as can too big. Larger on the rear 'usually' increases oversteer but different cars are affected in different ways.

My GT-Four does feel as if it turns in better with the Cusco brace. I have also fitted a C-One tower brace too which should help.
Front and rear sway bar sizes have also been increased to help improve the handling. Whiteline at the rear and custom made up front.

So to sum up, the under-brace is not a subsitute for larger swaybars and vice versa. And sway bars will make the biggest difference but beware, fit the wrong size and it'll have a negative effect.

Sorry, i was thinking these were sway bars for our car...but i guess they are not...but, if they were...the front/rear are $272 each...but they are not for our car tongue.gif laugh.gif

Nope. Whiteline (as I did mention in my last post if you read it) and C-One produce swaybars for Celicas.

Have Whiteline sway bars on mine...big difference...spoke to another GT4 owner who has one of them Cusco under body braces as I was interested in one...He said forget it, as it made no difference to the GT4 and all it did was come loose all the time (potentially very dangerous) and catch on speed bumps......so I didnt bother.....If your going to make a track car then it might be worth it, but otherwise I`d spend yer money elsewhere. (the top strut braces are a more worthy purchase IMO)

I have never had that problem. Perhaps I did the bolts up properly? wink.gif Also, I have never had an issue with speed bumps - perhaps that its because I have my car at a sensible ride height tongue.gif

Bit unfair to bag a piece of kit just because 1 person has experienced technical issues which, lets face it, aren't caused by the brace itself....

Well actually it wasnt just one person......the ride hieght is sensible...only dropped 25mm, but thats not important.......hey if anyone wants to go out and spend large amounts of money on something that will have very little benifit then who am I to stop em.....
Oh and I know how to do bolts up properly thanks......talk to Toyautocentre Ian about doing up one of these on someone elses car with a windy gun....I`d say that would get it tight enough....it still comes loose.
