Hi
I am about to buy a gen 6 celica here in Romania. But I am not sure if I should do this.

I could find only one gen 6 celica for sale here (and I was looking for 2 months) so I don't have where to choose from. The car is a 1.8, 115HP.(7A-FE engine).

Problem is that this celica has 250 000 km, the engine was changed. Car looks fine, the engine is ok.

I am afraid that these cars being so rare here in Romania it will cost me too much to upkeep. I mean if something will brake down I will have to import the broken part from Europe, this will get a little expensive.

I can not import one from europe because it does not have EURO 3 or 4 emission standard.

What do you think? Should I buy this one or just go for something that I can find on every street (like VW Golf for example)?
This is my dream car.

Can you give me some online shops where I can find stuff for Celica?

Please tell me what is the fuel consumption for a Celica with 7A-FE engine(1.8 115HP). But tell me from your experience, not what is written in the manual.

What other Toyotas have the 7A-FE engine(any corolla or something?)?

Sorry for bad english!
Feel free to comment.
Thanks

man, i wish i could offer u some good advise other then if u can afford the car and the upkeep, then get it, specially if it's your dream car. The gas consumption is really good on the 7A something like 27+ highway 23+ city driving and the 7A also came in alot of corolla's. I had a 7a celica auto, and i loved the car...never had a problem with her in the two years i had her. only reason i sold it was because she was auto. just gotta love the 5spd......i do want to point out that there is alot of information on this car/engine here on the forum. check the stickies and do some basic searching here. you can find all the information you need

^Wrong on the fuel economy. Easily gets over 30 on the highway. I average 26-27 city driving. The engine has good torque. If Romania has many hills you'll like the way it drives. They are very reliable cars, especially if it has a newer engine in it. Of course, being used you may have some routine maintenance to take care of. The engine came in the Corollas with the same model years as the Celica, maybe off one or two years. I've had my car for 5 years this month, and it still drives like new with 122,000 miles.

Thanks for all replays
I found so many info about this car on this web page biggrin.gif

I'll go next week to check out the car again and then I'll make my decision.

I have some friends that have cars that are a little hard to find around here, in Romania, and they have hard times fixing them. This is why I am disturbed about buying this car or not. But I just like it so much.

Here are two images. What do you think? How does the engine look? It seems to work fine, no black smoke.

I think you've answered your own question here. When spending a big amount of $, you need to think with your head rather than your heart. Okay, the car may be okay, but what do you do when something breaks? Can you afford to import parts? If you can, then buy one. If you can't then my advice would be to look at something else.

where should I look for parts? I prefer europe so shipping taxes are lower.
So I can see some prices.
