I'm looking at a gen 6 GT right now to buy (1996, 80,000 miles) , and the only prob is that when the gearbox is cold, there is a bit of (just slight, not major) crunch going from 4th gear to 3rd (no other problems).

The owner has told me that when it is warmed up, it is totally unnoticeable, and it isn't a prob. Only when the car is cold, you can hear a slight crunch. The seller seems to be honest about the car, and says when he bought it, it was warmed up and the gearbox seemed perfect.

I believe what the seller has said.. my only question is; in the long term, say two of three years down the line, is a full gearbox replacement on the cards? Will the problem get worse? Or, if handled with care, will the problem go away or just stay as it is?

I've searched through a couple of forums, and some guys used the following solution in Gen 5s:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002KL09...motive&v=glance
Guys who used that stuff said the crunch went completely.

Any advice or help is much appreciated! Viewing the car tomorrow...
