does anyone know, how much labor would cost for an auto to manual conversion. if i got like 90% of the parts needed to do it with the exception of a few bolts here and there. how much would labor cost to have someone do this professionaly and under the table. if so does anyone know anyone that could and would do it in va
thanks |

I've been quoted about $500.00 just for labor.

Its not the hardest thing in the world, it takes time and effort.. and skill level. If you have another car I would reccomend try'n it yourself, its how I learned todo everything ive ever done.
I would say about 1000$ out the door, depending on the condition on your car, it might be in your best intrest to sell it and get a 5spd. DTE -------------------- I am a thief.

i had 100% of the parts required, and labor cost me just a bit above $1000. Of course this was legit by a transmission specilist shop that had done quite a few conversions. Im not sure what you mean by "under the table"

im doing it
i have most of the parts already paid 400 for tranny, ecu, shifter cables, clutch & flywheel w/ bolts im expecting to pay another 250-300 for the rest of the parts as for labor i know a mechanic and he told me its not worth it cause hed charge me $2000 for just labor then i got someone offer $300 for labor (i think they are somewhere in PA) i started a thread asking if anyone wanted to come help me do it and i got a lot of responses, so thats what im going with. -------------------- |

I did an auto to manual conversion when I did the 3s swap on the Celica. The hardest part was drilling a giant hole for the master cylinder and installing the clutch lines.
Edit: hole... not whole. This post has been edited by Chanh55: May 24, 2006 - 3:34 PM |
