Hey guys... New here and deff staying. Since 6GC does not have a welcoming forums section this will be my into.
So I'm 19, got a 96 GT Hatch. Blew my engine a few months ago. Ordered a new 5sfe with 43K on it. And I really want to turbo it. I just got 1000$ for a back injury for a back injury in the past. And wana throe in a TURBO while i got money. So I talked to a few people here that have done custom turbos on their cars for around my price range. And I will need a turbo manifold, the turbo and custom piping... and not shure what else, hope you guys will let me know. And I also would like to know if the Turbo Manifold from a 3sgte would fit onto my 5sfe with out making any changes to it. And just basicly wing it from there. And where is it possible to find a turbo that would just bolt onto the 3sgte manifold. Thank you for your time. |

here you go
TURBO BIBLE! lol yeah, they are in the stickies in the forced induction forum.... study up! oh and yeah, people are gona drop by saying that it is more complicated turboing a 5s so you should drop in a 3sgte... easier and cheaper but hey, whatever floats ur boat oh and since ur in cali, if you do turbo it ur gona fail smog automatically, even with a 5sfe so ur gona have to pay to pass if you catch my drift ;D This post has been edited by XS4lv1Truch0x: Jun 10, 2006 - 4:25 PM -------------------- Is this good enuff 4 ya? :D

So the bolt on way is not the best idea.
What if I get a 3sgte will i need to get anyting to just put the engine in? And would fitting a turbo be a lot easier? As for SMOG test, we here dont really care, there is always a shop that will pass it. This post has been edited by HardProvidence: Jun 10, 2006 - 4:32 PM |

And would fitting a turbo be a lot easier? As for SMOG test, we here dont really care, there is always a shop that will pass it. the 3sgte would drop right in, u would just have to change the awd tranny that came with it.... and im guessing a custom downpipe, oh and ur gona have to get it wired up too, there are some people on the forum that do taht like dr. tweak, than other than that it would be plug and play... the 5s tranny would bolt on and work but i think ur gona have to get like a hybrid clutch. the 5s tranny would handle the power okay but if you plan on getting more hp outta the 3s, you should get another tranny, like the E153 solara tranny or something like that oh and the 3sgte already comes with a turbo and intercooler. the 3sgte is a performance engine... -------------------- Is this good enuff 4 ya? :D

people would say get a clip cause it comes wiht everything you need for the swap, a gt4 clip is better than the mr2 clip cause with the mr2 clip ur gona have to fabricate some brackets for the alternator and something else...
clips i say go for like 2000-5000 around there trannys i dunno, try looking on ebay oh and check the stickies under forced induction and engine matinenence, might answer most of ur questions This post has been edited by XS4lv1Truch0x: Jun 10, 2006 - 5:05 PM -------------------- Is this good enuff 4 ya? :D

read my post that is now a few posts down from where this post is.
there is LOTS of info on turboing your car in the sticky in the forced induction forum. yes, the 3sgte manifold bolts on to your 5sfe. as well as the turbo. enjoy! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
